New Hybrid SUV Coming Soon to the Brazilian Automotive Market Offering 605 hp. Jaecoo 8, SUV from Omoda & Jaecoo, Arrives to Revolutionize the Segment.
Omoda & Jaecoo will make their debut in Brazil by the end of March, with two cars being launched simultaneously, namely the Omoda 5, an SUV comparable in size to the Jeep Compass with mild hybrid and electric versions, and the Jaecoo 7, a mid-size SUV similar to the Tiggo 7, featuring next-generation plug-in hybrid mechanics. The largest of all, the new hybrid SUV Jaecoo 8 is scheduled for 2026.

The two brands will share the same dealership network, but operate completely independently from Caoa Chery. It is worth mentioning that this happens because Omoda and Jaecoo are part of Chery Global, and do not even exist in China.
Developing the image of these newcomer brands will be a major challenge, but there is a strategy. The cars aim to offer something more futuristic and a bolder design. Both the Omoda 5 and the Omoda 7 (which may arrive in the future) have the profile of a new coupe SUV.

The Jaecoo has its technological side, but the design is more understated (and occasionally boxy) both outside and inside. In fact, these cars do not hide their clear inspiration from Land Rover, with whom Chery has a partnership in China to produce the Discovery Sport and the Evoque.
The new hybrid SUV Jaecoo 8 is the largest of all, measuring 4.82 m in length and 2.82 m in wheelbase. It is so big that the brand plans to launch it in seven or six-seater versions. The advantage of the model is that it features independent seats with electric adjustment in the second row.
New Hybrid SUV Jaecoo 8 Delivers 605 hp
The Jaecoo 8 is a plug-in hybrid SUV with all-wheel drive. At the front, the model features a next-generation 1.5 turbo engine that operates on the Miller cycle and also has a variable geometry turbo, direct injection at 350 bar, water pump, variable oil pump, and air conditioning compressor powered by electric motors.
The result is 156 horsepower and 22 kgfm. Additionally, in the new SUV, there is an electric motor of 237 hp integrated into the automatic transmission, while another electric motor is equipped on the rear axle, delivering 224 hp and ensuring all-wheel drive.
The two engines together produce a total of 605 hp and 93.3 kgfm, quite a lot for a somewhat unwieldy car to drive, due to its soft suspension and size, even with its adaptive dampers.
However, it was still a prototype, considering that this configuration will only be launched in other markets this year. The Jaecoo 8 will represent a second wave of vehicles from the brand, when the company is more established. The price of the new family hybrid SUV is expected to be around R$ 300,000.
Omoda and Jaecoo Do Not Exist in China
The two brands, which are starting a joint operation in Brazil, do not exist in China, where their cars are sold by Chery.
This is because the Chinese like to create sub-brands to explore other positions. However, these are exclusive to export markets, with quite curious strategies.
