The announcement of the competition for high school students of the Brazilian Navy for admission in 2025 to the Schools of Maritime Apprentices was made this Friday (6). There are 800 vacancies available, of which 704 are for men and 96 for women. Who Can Apply For The High School Vacancies Of The Brazilian Navy?
In addition to educational requirements, the high school competition for the Schools of Maritime Apprentices requires candidates to have a minimum height of 1.54 m and a maximum of 2 m for both men and women, as well as being at least 18 years old and under 22 years of age on June 30, 2026. Additionally, it is also required to be single and have no children or dependents. The opportunities are distributed within the Brazilian Navy as follows:
- Schools of Maritime Apprentices of Ceará (EAMCE), in Fortaleza;
- Schools of Maritime Apprentices of Espírito Santo (EAMES), in Vila Velha;
- Schools of Maritime Apprentices of Pernambuco (EAMPE), in Olinda;

How To Register For The Brazilian Navy Public Competition?
Registrations will be open from January 29 to February 13, 2025, exclusively through the Navy’s website. The fee for participation is R$ 40. Those who wish to obtain an exemption from the payment must request it by the 3rd (by mail) or February 4 (in-person service). The high school competition announcement provides for free registration for individuals who meet one of the following conditions:
- Bone marrow donors in entities recognized by the Ministry of Health;
- Beneficiaries of the Unified Cadastre for Social Programs (CadÚnico) of the federal government.
The training course for sailors at the Schools of Maritime Apprentices will be divided into two phases: the apprentice sailor hierarchical rank, intended for military-naval training, and the grumete hierarchical rank.
During the apprentice sailor hierarchical rank, the student will receive a stipend of R$ 1,303.90, with R$ 1,105 corresponding to military pay, R$ 143.65 corresponding to military additional pay, and R$ 55.25 corresponding to compensation for military availability.
In the grumete hierarchical rank, the student approved in the public competition will receive a stipend of R$ 1,398.30, with R$ 1,185 corresponding to military pay, R$ 154.05 corresponding to military additional pay, and R$ 59.25 corresponding to compensation for military availability.
Steps Of The Navy Competition
According to the announcement, the competition will consist of objective tests, a hetero-identification procedure complementary to self-declaration, and complementary events.
The objective tests will be held on April 6, 2025, in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Angra dos Reis, Nova Friburgo, São Pedro da Aldeia, Belo Horizonte, Vila Velha, Salvador, Natal, Fortaleza, Olinda, Belém, São Luís, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande, Florianópolis, Ladário, Brasília, São Paulo, Santos, and Manaus.
The process of hetero-identification complementary to self-declaration consists of a phenotypic identification, by third parties, of the self-declared condition of the candidate. The physical fitness test (TAF) will consist of swimming and running tests for both sexes. The psychological evaluation will assess the psychological characteristics of the candidates.
