The Ministry of Education (MEC), in partnership with the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), announced the availability of 80,040 scholarships for undergraduate students. Registrations will take place between June 5 and June 5, offering a great opportunity for future basic education teachers.
Details of the Courses Offered by MEC
Each undergraduate student participating in the program will receive a monthly scholarship of R$ 700 for up to 60 months. In addition to students, supervisors and area coordinators will also receive monthly benefits of R$ 1,100 and R$ 2,000, respectively, while institutional coordinators will receive R$ 2,100.
The goal of the program, according to MEC, is to strengthen the training of future basic education teachers, providing a real insertion into school practice during the formative process.

Distribution of Scholarships by Region
The distribution of scholarships will be as follows:
- Northeast: 20,688 scholarships;
- Southeast: 16,584 scholarships;
- South: 12,264 scholarships;
- North: 8,040 scholarships;
- Central-West: 7,440 scholarships;
Of the total, 10,008 scholarships will be allocated to subprojects in the area of literacy, while 5,016 scholarships will go to Pibid Equity, which includes courses in rural education, bilingual education for the deaf, inclusive special education, indigenous education, and quilombola education.
How to Apply for MEC Scholarships
According to the notice, higher education institutions have the period from June 7 to July 25, 2024, to present teaching initiation project proposals. The Institutional Program of Initiation to Teaching Scholarship (Pibid) anticipates a total investment of R$ 1.8 billion.
The application process will be conducted through the Integrated Capes System (Sicapes). Those interested in submitting proposals should request access to the system between June 5 and June 5.
