Federal Institute offers 975 spots for free technical courses in 2026. Registrations are online and cover various cities in Piauí.
Getting a technical education without paying tuition is an opportunity that will be within reach for hundreds of Piauí students in the coming days. The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Piauí (IFPI) has started a new selection process to fill 975 spots in free technical courses in the second semester of 2026.
The opportunities are available for candidates who are still attending high school and also for those who have already completed this stage of basic education. The spots are distributed among units located in the capital and the interior of the state, expanding access to professional training in different regions of Piauí.
Federal Institute offers courses in various professional areas
The selection includes training related to different sectors of the economy, allowing candidates to choose options aligned with their interests and professional goals.

The opportunities are offered in two distinct modalities. The concurrent modality is intended for students who are still in high school. The subsequent modality is for those who have completed this stage of education.
New campuses receive spots for the first time
One of the novelties of the selection process involves the expansion of the offer to units that are now participating in the selection with new courses.
This edition introduces the first vacancies for the subsequent technical course in Logistics at the Altos campus. Meanwhile, the Barras and Esperantina campuses are now offering vacancies for the subsequent technical course in Environment.
The expansion represents a new alternative for professional qualification for residents of these localities.
Quota system reserves part of the vacancies
Half of the opportunities offered by the Federal Institute will be allocated to students who completed their elementary education entirely in public schools.
Within this reserved percentage, there are specific criteria related to family income and also to candidates who self-declare as black, brown, indigenous, or quilombola.
Additionally, the notice establishes a reservation of 5% of the vacancies for people with disabilities (PwD), regardless of income or the educational network previously attended.
Candidates competing for vacancies intended for black, brown, indigenous, or quilombola individuals must necessarily undergo the heteroidentification procedure provided for in the notice. If the procedure is not carried out or has an unfavorable result, the participant will be transferred to the general competition.
Federal Institute provides special assistance and use of social name
The selection process also includes mechanisms aimed at inclusion.
Transgender, transvestite, and transsexual candidates can request the use of their social name during all stages of the selection, provided they make the request according to the guidelines set out in the notice.
There is also the possibility of requesting specialized assistance for taking the exam.
This right is intended for people with physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory disabilities, as well as lactating candidates who need specific conditions during the exam application.
How to register for the free technical courses?
Interested parties must register exclusively online, through the electronic address selecao.ifpi.edu.br.
To complete the procedure, it is necessary to have an active account on the Gov.br platform. Registrations are open from June 10 to 23. The participation fee is set at R$ 20.
Payment can be made until June 24 through bank branches, apps, or ATMs of Banco do Brasil.
Selection stages already have set dates
After the registration closes, candidates will proceed to the evaluation phase.
The exam will be held on July 19 and will last a total of four hours. The test will consist of 60 objective questions.
The distribution of questions will be as follows:
- 30 questions in Portuguese Language;
- 30 questions in Mathematics.
Before the exam is administered, the Federal Institute will announce the test locations on July 13.
The final result of the selection process is scheduled to be announced on July 27, 2026.

With 975 vacancies distributed among the campuses of Altos, Barras, Esperantina, Floriano, Picos, and Teresina — including the Central, Dirceu, and Zona Sul units — the Federal Institute expands qualification opportunities for students from different regions of the state.
