The company will focus on production, decommissioning, accommodation, and drilling activities in Brazil, and according to its Vice President of Marketing and Projects, Marcelo Távora, “We have been in the market for many years and operating in Southern China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Russia, Central Asia, and the Gulf of Mexico. Our proposal in Brazil is to operate efficiently and with high technology, offering an integrated solution to clients.”
The Contract with Petrobras
In order to fulfill the contract with Petrobras, China Union Offshore will use state-of-the-art anchored rigs from the Tiger series, which are equipped with the most modern equipment available today in the offshore industry.
The expectation of creating five hundred new jobs in Macaé has already caused optimism in the city, considering it is a large company, well-recognized, and with more than two thousand workers at its headquarters in China.
Its vice president also emphasized that, “We have experience in operating in exploration and production activities and have already mobilized managers and technicians with extensive experience, some with over 40 years of work in oil and gas management at the largest companies in the global market, with operational knowledge of the local oil industry in all types of operations, from land rigs to state-of-the-art ultra-deepwater units, with extraordinary results.”
Now the expectation among workers in the city of Macaé is one of optimism, and to meet the company’s demand, workforce qualification is necessary, as the offshore market is still highly competitive, but we can perceive that the lights at the end of the tunnel are beginning to shine.
