Job Fair in Vila Velha Brings Together Companies and Offers Immediate Vacancies
The city of Vila Velha, in Espírito Santo, is holding another job fair focused on increasing the population’s access to job vacancies. This Wednesday, May 22, 2025, the initiative by the city hall, in partnership with local companies, offered over 150 opportunities in areas such as commerce, services, and industry. The event took place at the city’s Sine office, located in the Praça de Coqueiral neighborhood, from 8 AM to 5 PM, operating on a first-come, first-served basis. According to the Department of Economic Development, the main goal of the initiative is to accelerate professional reintegration and encourage the movement of the local market. The event featured recruiters from various companies who conducted in-person interviews on site. As a result, many candidates left with referrals or confirmed hiring, strengthening the direct impact of the action on the generation of immediate jobs.
Partnership Between Public and Private Sectors Strengthens Professional Insertion
The mobilization of companies for the job fair demonstrates, above all, the private sector’s commitment to the socioeconomic development of the region. In total, 26 companies were registered, with vacancies at different educational levels, from elementary school to a complete higher education. The available positions included attendant, cashier, production assistant, salesperson, driver, among others. The coordinator of Sine Vila Velha, Rodrigo Lúcio, emphasized that the involvement of companies was essential for the success of the initiative. He stated that, with a high number of vacancies concentrated in one day, participants had access to various work possibilities without needing to travel throughout the city. This, according to him, represents not only time savings but also more chances for direct hiring.
Residents Queue for Jobs but Leave Hopeful
Since the early hours of the morning, dozens of residents formed lines in front of the Sine office, motivated by the chance to change their lives. Many attendees reported being unable to find formal work for months. With documents in hand and updated resumes, candidates were attended to by teams prepared to expedite the screening process and referrals for interviews. Housekeeper Maria Aparecida de Jesus, 42, stated that the initiative brought hope amid the hardship. After months without an opportunity, she received a referral for an interview as a cleaning assistant. “We wake up early, stand in line, but it’s worth it when we see that someone is looking out for us,” she declared emotionally.

High Demand Drives the Realization of New Job Fairs in the City
Based on participation data and the significant number of hires made on site, the city hall of Vila Velha is already planning new job fairs for the upcoming months. The expectation, as stated by the Secretary of Economic Development, Ricardo Pessanha, is that these events will become regular, strengthening the public policy of job and income generation in the municipality. According to the secretary, job fairs also serve as a strategy for connecting companies and the population. This way, available vacancies are filled more quickly, contributing to a decrease in unemployment rates. The city hall confirmed that a new edition of the event is scheduled to take place at the end of June, with even more partner companies.
Public Policies Strengthen Actions Like the Job Fair in Vila Velha
The realization of the job fair is part of the economic and social development plan of the municipal administration, which has been investing in expanding job opportunities since the beginning of 2023. According to the Jones dos Santos Neves Institute, Espírito Santo recorded a slight improvement in employability indexes in the first quarter of 2025, compared to the same period of the previous year. The municipal policies encouraging hiring largely propelled this progress. Furthermore, Sine Vila Velha has been operating daily with workforce intermediation actions, updating registrations, and providing career guidance. The platform also offers digital services, which broadens reach and facilitates access for candidates who cannot attend in person. These measures show that, although challenges remain, initiatives like the job fair are concrete steps towards valuing the local worker.
