Harley-Davidson Launches New Motorcycle, the X440T, in India. With Advanced Technology, Competitive Pricing, and Focus on Rivals Like Bajaj, But No Sales Forecast in Brazil.
The Harley-Davidson has introduced the X440T, a new version of its motorcycle in the mid-range segment developed in partnership with Hero MotoCorp, targeting the Indian market.
The launch took place in 2025, in India, as a direct response to the advancement of local brands, such as Bajaj, which dominate the displacement range between 400 and 450 cm³.
The new model comes with improvements in technology, safety, and design while maintaining the well-known engine of the X440 line.

Harley-Davidson’s strategy is clear: to offer a more competitively priced product without compromising the brand’s identity.
Harley-Davidson’s Partnership with Hero MotoCorp Strengthens the Project
Like the original X440, the X440T is the result of collaboration between Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp, one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the world.
The motorcycle uses the same platform specifically developed for emerging markets.
This partnership allows for lower production costs and greater scale, an essential factor in competing with established Indian manufacturers like Bajaj, which offers well-equipped and competitive models in this price range.
Innovative Technology Elevates the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle
Among the main advancements of the X440T is the adoption of ride-by-wire, an electronic system that replaces the traditional throttle cable.
With this technology, the motorcycle now offers two riding modes, called Road and Rain.
Additionally, Harley-Davidson has added traction control and switchable rear ABS, features that enhance safety.
Another highlight is the emergency braking alert, a feature still uncommon in motorcycles of this category.
Revised Design Improves Comfort and Addresses Criticism
Harley-Davidson took the opportunity with the new version to redesign the rear subframe, changing the tail and passenger grab handles.
The changes improved comfort and gave the motorcycle a more balanced appearance.
The more compact look reduces the space between the rear wheel and the fender, addressing one of the main criticisms directed at the original X440.
Even with the modifications, the weight in running order remained at 192 kg, just 1.5 kg more than the previous model.

Engine Maintains Urban Proposal and Affordable Cost
In the mechanical set, the X440T retains the 440 cm³ single-cylinder engine, provided by Hero MotoCorp.
The engine, air-cooled with the aid of an oil radiator, delivers 27 hp of power and 3.8 kgfm of torque.
The transmission is a six-speed manual, prioritizing balanced handling for urban and light highway use, a profile highly valued by the Indian audience.
Competitive Pricing Targets Rivals Like Bajaj
In the midst of competition with local models, price becomes one of the main attractions.
In India, the Harley-Davidson X440T costs 279,000 rupees, equivalent to about R$ 16,700 in direct conversion.
This positioning places the motorcycle face to face with rivals like the Bajaj Dominar and the Pulsar 400, which offer more power but not always the same brand appeal.
Harley-Davidson X440T Will Not Be Sold in Brazil
Despite the interest that the novelty may generate, the Harley-Davidson X440T has no launch forecast in Brazil.

The model was developed exclusively for the Indian market and other Asian countries.
In Brazil, the brand’s strategy remains focused on larger displacement motorcycles at higher prices.
Therefore, at least for now, the X440T remains a regional solution, with no official plans for importation.
With the X440T, Harley-Davidson demonstrates that it is willing to adapt its global operations to face local competitors like Bajaj in highly competitive markets.
By offering a motorcycle that is more accessible, well-equipped, and aligned with regional tastes, the brand bets on volume and relevance outside its traditional markets without compromising its identity.
