The new BMW R 1300 GS motorcycle is already being manufactured in Brazil and will soon arrive at stores in the country. However, the model will not come alone; the new BMW F 900 GS trail also has a set date to arrive in the country. In this article, we have detailed the launch of the new rival to the Triumph Tiger 900 in the national market.
New BMW Motorcycle Delivers 105 Horsepower
The new big trail BMWs were presented in Europe at the end of last year. Completely renewed for this year, the lineup includes the arrival of the new F 900 GS and the BMW F 900 GS Adventure, while the name F 800 GS returns to the catalog, but with a new setup and occupying the entry-level model position. According to the brand, the new motorcycle will hit stores as early as July.
However, it is still unknown whether the entry-level F 800 GS, which replaces the F 750 GS and F 850 GS, will also be offered in the national market. It has also not been revealed whether the 900 will come with the Adventure version.

Both the F 900 GS and the new F 800 are powered by the same liquid-cooled parallel twin engine. This engine delivers a power of 105 horsepower at 8,500 RPM and 9.3 kgfm at 6,750 RPM in the 900cc. Meanwhile, the 800cc achieves 87 horsepower at 6,750 RPM.
It is worth mentioning that, as a highlight, the new BMW F 900 GS arrives with a 6.5-inch TFT display, two riding modes, traction control, and Akrapovic exhaust, while the bidirectional quickshifter is optional in Europe.
Can the New BMW Motorcycle Surpass the Tiger?
As mentioned, the F 800 GS was designed as the entry-level motorcycle in the GS lineup, a few steps above the small G 310 GS. Therefore, this news could complement the range alongside the confirmed F 900 GS and R 1300 GS in Brazil.
The new BMW F 900 GS is indeed focused on its main competitor, the Triumph Tiger 900. Thus, the new German motorcycle had the task of shifting its focus slightly away from touring to enter more into the off-road universe.
The new BMW motorcycle looks visually taller and slimmer with a smaller rear subframe. The tail has been reduced in size, featuring a small LED light and turn signal. Additionally, the new model now weighs 14 kg less than the model it replaces, the 850 GS, weighing 219 kg in running order.
However, the adventurous vocation of the new BMW F 900 GS is evidenced by the fully adjustable front suspension with an inverted fork and 230 mm of travel. At the rear, a single shock absorber provides 215 mm of travel. Finally, the wheels are spoked, measuring 21 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear.
How Much Will the New F 900 GS Trail Cost?
The production of the new BMW motorcycle begins in July; however, we still do not know the exact launch date or how much the GS 900 will cost in Brazil.
In the United States, it is about 10% more expensive than its predecessor, the F 850 GS, priced at $12,595 and $13,495. In Brazil, the 850 has prices ranging from R$ 74,500 to R$ 84,500.
In countries where both models share showroom space, the new BMW F 900 GS costs slightly more than the F 850 GS. In the USA, this difference is around 10%.
