The premium sedan market gained a new protagonist in August 2025: the Audi A5 2026, officially launched in Brazil.
The model, which arrives to simultaneously replace the old A4 and the previous generation of the A5, promises to shake up the direct competition with the BMW 3 Series.
Equipped with a 2.0 turbo engine producing 272 HP, a wide technological package, and a starting price of R$ 379,990, the brand’s sports sedan surprised consumers and experts with its balance between cost and equipment.

Powerful Engine and Sports Performance
The Audi A5 2026 comes equipped with the acclaimed 2.0 TFSI engine from the EA888 family, delivering 272 HP and 40.8 kgfm of torque. Paired with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive Quattro, the sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, according to the manufacturer.
In track tests conducted by specialized media, the car registered 6.7 seconds in the same test, still outperforming the rival BMW 3 Series 320i M Sport, which takes 7.1 seconds to reach the same mark. The top speed is electronically limited to 210 km/h.
Bold and Sporty Design
The third generation of the sedan breaks away from the conservative looks and now bets on more aggressive and sophisticated lines.
The Audi A5 2026 features a honeycomb-pattern front grille, darkened logo, redesigned bumpers, and sharper headlights. At the rear, taillights connected by a three-dimensional illuminated bar reinforce the modern identity.
Another highlight is the flush door handles, which improve aerodynamics, as well as the 20-inch wheels in a satin gray finish.
The result is a sporty car with a striking presence that conveys sophistication and prominence.
More Space and Comfort
The mid-size sedan has grown in all dimensions, reaching 4.83 meters in length and 2.89 m in wheelbase. This ensures greater internal comfort, especially for rear seat passengers.
Despite the increase in space, the trunk has lost volume: dropping from 465 liters to 417 liters, but it still surpasses the BMW 3 Series, which offers 365 liters.
The model also features dual-zone digital air conditioning, rear air vents, and an electrically operated trunk, reinforcing the proposal for accessible luxury.
Cutting-Edge Technology Inside
Upon entering the cabin, the feeling is one of modernity. The Audi A5 2026 offers an 11.9-inch digital instrument panel, a 14.5-inch multimedia center with wireless integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a head-up display.
The interior blends leather finishes, brushed aluminum elements, and ambient lighting with up to 30 color options.
The sport seats come with electric adjustments and memory position, enhancing comfort. Another innovative point is the panoramic sunroof with opacity control, similar to the feature in the Porsche Taycan.
Enhanced Safety
The equipment list includes seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking, fatigue alert, lane change assist, and 12 parking sensors.
The sedan also features adaptive distance control and ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels, ensuring safety when stopping from 100 km/h to zero in just 37.2 meters.
Fuel Consumption
If there is one negative point about the Audi A5 2026, it lies in its fuel consumption. The model lost the 48-volt mild hybrid system, which increased fuel expenses.
According to official data, it achieves 8.7 km/l in the city and 11.5 km/l on the highway. In independent tests, however, it managed better averages: 9.3 km/l in urban cycles and 13.9 km/l on highways. Still, it consumes more than the BMW 3 Series.
The Mission to Replace Two Models
With Audi’s new naming strategy, reserving odd numbers for combustion vehicles and even for electric ones, the Audi A5 2026 arrives in Brazil accumulating the function of replacing both the A4 and the old A5.
The bet is bold, but it makes sense given that it is a more powerful, equipped, and modern model than its direct rival.
However, the task will not be simple: the BMW 3 Series still dominates 51.4% of medium and large sedan sales in the country in 2025.
Even so, the competitive pricing and technological package make the launch one of the most important news in the automotive market this year.
