The announcement was made during the IV Meeting of Audiovisual Ideas at the 48th São Paulo International Film Festival, where key figures from EBC and the National Cinema Agency (Ancine) presented the details of the initiative.

According to EBC’s Director of Content and Programming, Antonia Pellegrino, the funding amount results from an intense partnership between EBC and Ancine.
She stated that the close collaboration over the past two years has allowed for a record investment to be directed to the public audiovisual sector:
“This record amount is the result of the growth of the institutional partnership between Ancine and EBC. Together, we managed to offer R$ 110 million to strengthen public communication,” states Pellegrino.
Jean Lima, president of EBC, emphasizes that the project aligns with the federal government’s guidelines, aiming to broaden the audience and strengthen the identity of public TV in Brazil.
According to Lima, “this investment is a milestone for EBC, which is determined to strengthen the brand, expand the audience of TV Brasil, and further solidify our role in public communication.”
Content Diversification and Strengthening TV Brasil
TV Brasil currently ranks fifth in viewership among open TV, but this new line of funding promises to elevate the presence of the station and its affiliate network, the National Public Communication Network (RNCP), with its 126 stations.
EBC’s goal is to reposition TV Brasil by offering more diversity and quality in its programs, as well as encouraging local and independent production in different regions of the country.
The round table “TV Brasil: Repositioning and Launching of Public Call,” held at the Cinemateca Brasileira during the event, served to detail the project’s intentions and the planning of EBC’s new management, which aims to elevate the station to a level of relevance similar to that of other international public networks.
Thematic Lines to Expand National Audiovisual
The TV Brasil Selection call for proposals is divided into seven thematic lines: children, youth, nature and environment, women’s soccer, society and culture, production and finalization of feature films, and co-production of soap operas.
Each line was designed to address specific social and cultural demands, including highly relevant themes such as the appreciation of gender and racial diversity.
This thematic focus reinforces EBC’s goal of expanding the variety of content available on public TV and stimulating audiovisual production that engages with the realities and needs of the Brazilian audience.
The inclusion of soap opera co-production represents an innovation for public TV, which will be able to reach a larger and more diverse audience, competing with other broadcasters in terms of fictional content.
