New CR450 Surpasses Any Other High-Speed Train Ever Built, Operating at 400 km/h and Utilizing Cutting-Edge Technology for Greater Efficiency and Safety.
China is once again at the forefront of railway technology with the launch of the CR450, the fastest train in the world. The new model, which reached 450 km/h in tests, promises to revolutionize high-speed transportation.
The train, which is being tested on the railway lines in Beijing, was unveiled in December 2024 as an evolution of the Fuxing CR400 trains, which are already a reference in speed and efficiency. While the CR400 operates at 350 km/h, the CR450 will be able to maintain an operational speed of 400 km/h, surpassing any other passenger train in circulation.
Innovative Technology Enables Unprecedented Speeds in the Fastest Train in the World
To achieve this impressive speed, Chinese engineers enhanced the magnetic traction system and invested in a revolutionary aerodynamic design. The new water-cooled permanent magnet traction system prevents overheating, allowing the train to operate at maximum power without compromising safety.

While Brazil’s Ferrogrão project has been stalled for 16 years, China is erecting the central tower of the world’s largest trans-sea railway bridge — 29.2 km of high-speed rail between Shanghai and Ningbo.

The trains in the Netherlands have 2,000-watt laser cannons that vaporize leaves at 5,000 °C on the tracks — and England invented the technology, but gave up on it in 2002.

The government of Bahia is studying reactivating 600 km of old tracks connecting Salvador to Juazeiro: the idea is to transform the old Bahia to São Francisco Railway into a modern corridor for freight and passenger transport throughout the state.
The aerodynamics of the train have been optimized to reduce air resistance, making the trip more efficient and economical. According to Wang Feng, Vice President of the manufacturer CRRC Corporation Limited, engineers developed a redesigned bogie deck to enhance stability and minimize energy loss.
Enhanced Safety with Thousands of Sensors
Safety has always been a critical factor in high-speed trains, and the CR450 is no exception. The new model features over 4,000 monitoring sensors spread throughout the train’s structure.
These sensors track in real-time the landing gear, the vehicle’s body, high-voltage pantographs, and the fire control and detection systems. If a problem is identified, the intelligent system can act instantly to prevent accidents.
The CR450 includes an “off-the-horizon” recognition system that allows it to detect emergencies on the tracks before the train approaches, providing timely opportunities for automatic reactions.
Another major highlight of the CR450 is the enhanced comfort for passengers.
Thanks to the use of sound absorption materials and adjustments to the aerodynamics, the noise level inside the cabin has been reduced by 2 decibels. This means quieter journeys, even at extreme speeds.
When Will the CR450 Enter Operation?
The CR450 train is still in the testing phase, but experts expect it to enter operation in the coming years. When this happens, it could become the new global standard for high-speed trains, even challenging the famous Japanese bullet trains.
With unmatched performance, enhanced safety and cutting-edge technology, the CR450 demonstrates that China continues to lead the development of modern rail transportation.
