State Is Creating Thousands Of Jobs In Works That Change The Infrastructure And The Lives Of Residents. The Region Advances In Paving, Drainage, And Projects Targeted At COP 30, Such As The City Park And The Bridge Over The Maguari River.

In an impressive economic turnaround, Pará emerges as a protagonist in the scene of public works in Brazil.

Under the leadership of Governor Helder Barbalho, the state is not only transforming its infrastructure but also stands out for creating thousands of jobs.

With investments in roads, hospitals, drainage infrastructure, and preparations for COP 30, the state promises significant changes in the quality of life for its residents.

A Revolution In The Pará Job Market

According to official data from the Pará government, around 40 thousand jobs have been generated directly or indirectly through ambitious projects across the state.

The opportunities arise from various fronts, driven by departments such as the Department of Public Works (Seop), the Department of Infrastructure and Logistics (Seinfra), and the Metropolitan Transportation Management Center (NGTM).

Among the most in-demand roles are those related to civil construction and urban infrastructure, such as paving, road resurfacing, and drainage works.

Just between 2023 and 2024, Seop was responsible for hiring approximately 37.5 thousand professionals to work on large projects, including road paving and the construction of the Emergency Care Unit of Augusto Montenegro, as well as the first Public Women’s Hospital in the Northern region of the country.

Impacts Of The Works In Belém And In Preparation For COP 30

In Belém, the host city of the upcoming COP 30, infrastructure works are already directly impacting the lives of residents.

According to Agência Brasil, the secretary of Seop, Ruy Cabral, highlighted that the Government of Pará seeks a balance between structural improvements and the generation of new job vacancies.

“These works raise the quality of life of the population and promise to create even more jobs when we reach the peak of the works for COP 30,” said Cabral, emphasizing that these improvements bring an important legacy for the capital of Pará.

Testimonials From Those Experiencing The Works Day-to-Day

For those working on the projects, the impact goes beyond the simple financial aspect.

Worker Cleidson Júnior, who works on the macro-drainage of a canal, stated that he feels fulfilled to be part of this transformation:

“I see this job as a great opportunity to help my family and also contribute to a work much awaited by the residents,” he said.

The completion of the canal will represent a significant change for the community, which has been awaiting these improvements for years.

Projects And Jobs Under The Management Of Seinfra

In addition to Seop’s projects, the Department of Infrastructure (Seinfra) is also investing in important works that involve thousands of workers.

In Belém, Seinfra currently employs over 1,000 workers at the City Park, a venture that promises to be one of the major legacies for COP 30.

Additionally, another 400 professionals are working on Porto Futuro II, a project employing exclusively local labor.

Another significant milestone is the construction of the bridge over the Maguari River, which will link Belém to Ananindeua, with about 200 people directly involved.

This project aims not only to improve urban mobility but also to create new job opportunities in the region.

Avenida Liberdade: The New Access Corridor To The Capital

Seinfra is also responsible for the ambitious work of the Avenida Liberdade, which will connect Alça Viária to the Perimetral.

This project, in addition to generating around 800 direct jobs, will include two traffic lanes in each direction, shoulders, and a dedicated lane for cyclists.

With solar-powered lighting and eco-friendly pavement, the 13.3-kilometer avenue promises not only to be an access alternative but also a model for sustainable infrastructure.

Investments In Urban Mobility By NGTM

The Metropolitan Transportation Management Center (NGTM) also contributes to the urban improvements in Belém.

Among the completed works is the Avenida Padre Bruno Sechi, which generated approximately 1,000 jobs.

Delivered in February 2022, this 4.2-kilometer route connects Avenida Centenário to the Tapanã highway in the Bengui neighborhood, facilitating the daily movement of thousands of residents.

According to NGTM, the work includes drainage, paving, construction of accessible sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and public lighting.

What Are The Impacts Of The Works On The Economy Of Pará?

In addition to transforming the state’s infrastructure, the public works being carried out in Pará are changing the economic landscape of the region.

The generation of jobs has been one of the main strategies of the local government to boost the economy, especially at a time when preparations for COP 30 are bringing significant visibility to the state.

According to experts, these investments can be seen as a leverage for the social and economic development of Pará, benefiting not only the workers but also small and medium businesses that provide services for these large projects.

With so many works underway and new job opportunities being generated, the question remains: could this model of investment in infrastructure be a solution for other regions of Brazil?
