Changes in the Oil and Gas Market Make the Company Rethink Strategies and Qualify to Meet the Demand in the Decommissioning of Petrobras Platforms
In the year it celebrates its 15 years of existence, Oceânica, with a strong presence in the oil and gas market and relevant services to Petrobras, begins to rethink its operation to adapt to this new reality.
According to Afonso Cabrera, the commercial manager of new business at Oceânica, the company had to change its focus since Petrobras opted to charter units instead of building them in the country.
This led Oceânica to shift its focus from construction to operational efficiency, as well as operations in ports and terminals.

Another sector that is attracting a lot of the company’s focus is the decommissioning of oil platforms. The current focus is the Petrobras platforms from the Cação field, where the company claims to be qualified to operate.
Other Focus Areas
According to the company’s president, the company is preparing for the launch of a vessel monitoring system, as fuel consumption accounts for about 50% of shipping companies’ costs and the use of the system dramatically increases operational efficiency for companies.
The gas sector also piques Oceânica’s interest, especially in the area of gas terminal projects for power generation.
Recently, the company worked on quite an innovative project in Sergipe, the first gas terminal that has the Soft Yoke anchoring system.
The company’s idea in the gas market is to work from the conception of master planning to operation. Oceânica also has products for terminal management that fit into these gas terminals.
