Lula government releases R$ 1.16 billion through the New PAC to renew public transportation in Brazil with 727 buses in cities of São Paulo, Pernambuco, Minas, Rio, and other states, including electric and less polluting models.
The TPPF expansion project also includes the extension of the docking pier by 170 meters. So far, over R$ 300 million has been invested in equipment and warehouse constructions.
A dredging of the access channel to the terminal is also expected to allow for a greater number of ships in operation, as the draft will increase to 9.5 m later this year.
With the completion of the dredging and ongoing works, the terminal’s handling capacity is expected to increase from the current 2 million tons to 4 million tons/year, aiding the economy of the state of Paraná.
Jobs
The terminal at the Port of Antonina is the first port established on the coast of Paraná and also the largest generator of jobs and income in the region.
The CEO of TPPF, Gilberto Birkhan, spoke optimistically about the project: “The expansion of the Terminal will further strengthen the Port of Antonina, job creation, income, and economic development,” he said.
According to Birkhan, the expansion works of TPPF will create over 500 new jobs, with 260 workers hired during the construction and an additional 240 hired for the operational phase.
