The P-70 platform was built in China and left COOEC's eastern shipyard in Qingdao on December 9, 2019, heading to Guanabara Bay, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The platform module integration works were carried out at the COOEC shipyard, while the ship's hull was built at the Cosco shipyard.
The platform will operate in the Atapu field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, and the unit's production is expected to be around 150 barrels of oil and 6 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
The ship that brought the P-70 will submerge to completely unload the platform into the sea. After that, the P-70 will proceed to an area in Guanabara Bay, called the anchorage area, where it will remain for about 30 days. During this period, the vessel will carry out commissioning and nationalization activities for the structure, and then continue on to its final destination, Campo de Atapu.
Remembering, the P-70 arrived in Porto do Rio on January 24th. On the way, there was an accident involving workers on the platform, which left one dead and 5 in need of medical attention.
The incident happened about 51 km off the coast of the city of Durban, in South Africa, after workers from Boskalis (the company that transported the P-70) and other subcontracted companies fell ill after ingesting ethyl alcohol. They were rescued by helicopter and airlifted to a hospital in Durban.
