The Chance to Pursue a Master’s Degree at Fiocruz Is Coming to an End! The Deadline for Applications for the Professional Master’s in Participation and Social Control in Health Has Been Extended, But Attention: Time Is Running Out! Don’t Miss This Unique Opportunity to Transform Public Health in Brazil.

The opportunity for those who wish to enroll in the Professional Master’s in Participation and Social Control in Health, offered by Fiocruz, is about to close.

Although the deadline for applications has been extended, interested individuals need to hurry.

The applications for the first class of the course, which takes place at the National School of Public Health Sergio Arouca (Ensp/Fiocruz), have been extended until February 24, but attention is still needed to the details to ensure participation.

The course aims to train professionals with the necessary profile to act incisively in public health policies in Brazil.

The goal of the master’s program is to strengthen participation and social control in health, training health counselors, members of social movements, and professionals linked to health councils.

For those looking to act transformatively in public health policies, this could be the chance to reach new horizons in their careers.

Participa Saúde: A Master’s Program That Makes a Difference in Public Health

Participa Saúde is an innovative master’s program that seeks to strengthen the role of counselors and social movements in the implementation of health policies in Brazil.

In a partnership between Ensp/Fiocruz, the National Health Council (CNS), and the Primary Health Care Secretariat of the Ministry of Health, the course is completely free, providing quality training for those who wish to contribute to strengthening the Unified Health System (SUS).

Candidates who join the program will have the chance to attend in-person classes held at Fiocruz Brasília.

According to information from the institution, the course is entirely free, with no tuition or enrollment fees.

This is an important point for interested individuals, as the master’s program aims for the democratization of higher education, with no costs for students.

The focus of the training is to offer knowledge that goes beyond theory, providing practical tools to face the challenges of public health management.

Applications Open Until February 24: Pending Documentation Must Be Regularized

With the extension of the application period, there is still time to secure a spot, but candidates need to pay attention to the documentation required for enrollment.

The Selection Committee highlighted that several applicants have not completed the necessary documentation. This may compromise participation in the selection process, so it is essential to verify all documents.

The required documents include:

  1. Identification Document
  2. Updated Curriculum Vitae on the Lattes Platform-CNPq
  3. Letter of Intention with research proposals and social technology development
  4. Letter of Recommendation from a legal representative of health councils or social movements
  5. Proof of proficiency in English or Spanish (or a form for a foreign language test if no proof is available)

To ensure that the application is validated, candidates must access the Fiocruz website and verify that all documents have been submitted correctly, as the absence of any document may exclude the candidate from subsequent stages.

Course Objective: Strengthen Democracy and Public Health in Brazil

The coordinator of the Professional Master’s, Gideon Borges, explains that the course’s objective goes beyond traditional academic training.

The course seeks to strengthen democratic participation, expanding social control in decisions regarding public health policies in the country.

He also emphasizes the commitment of the master’s program to promote gender, racial equity, and support for people with disabilities, making the training even more inclusive and attuned to the social reality of Brazil.

According to Marly Cruz, a researcher at Ensp/Fiocruz, the program aims to “develop social technologies and strategies for the implementation of public health policies.”

Students will have the opportunity to discuss and create solutions for the contemporary challenges of public health in Brazil, including issues such as inequality, social exclusion, and lack of resources.

An Important Partnership for SUS

For the new president of the National Health Council, Fernanda Magano, the collaboration between Fiocruz and the CNS represents a significant step toward strengthening social control in SUS.

The partnership aims to train counselors and promote social inclusion in decisions about health policies, an important step in ensuring that SUS continues to serve the population in a democratic and equitable manner.

Academic training in public health is one of the essential pillars for improving SUS management, and Fiocruz, with its long history and expertise in the area, is one of the largest centers of excellence for those wishing to transform public health in Brazil.

How to Enroll

Interested individuals should access the Teaching Portal of Ensp/Fiocruz, where complete information about the selection process is available, including the correction of the selection announcement that includes the extension of the application deadline.

Remember that the final deadline is February 24, and it is essential that the required documents are submitted by this date to ensure that your application is considered.

If you wish to be one of the future professionals who will impact public health policies in Brazil, do not let this opportunity pass.

Fiocruz offers the chance to make a difference in the Brazilian health system, with quality training and at no cost. For more information, click here.
