Average Salary for Job Vacancies in Portugal

The new minimum wage in Portugal has changed and was published in Diário da República the Decree-Law No. 112/2024, of December 19, 2024, which sets the minimum monthly amount at 870 euros. Moreover, the new amount has been valid since January 1, 2025, and about 838,000 workers earn the minimum wage in Portugal.

According to data from the government of Portugal, about 21% of workers receive the national minimum wage, that is, 838,000 workers. Of these, around 422,000 are women and 416,000 are men. 

Compared to other countries in the European Union, the purchasing power with the Portuguese minimum wage is one of the lowest. In 2024, the wage in Portugal was 820 euros, and on the first day of 2025, it increased by 50 euros. That is, the national minimum wage has risen and represents a 6.1% increase. The salary in Portugal is paid in 14 installments.
