A Classic With A Story
The Firebird Esprit gained popularity in 1976, the year when the Trans model Dominated the Firebird line, with over 46,000 units sold.

The Esprit ranked second, reaching 22,252 units, closely followed by the base Firebird and the Formula. In 1979, the Trans Am would become the best-selling Firebird, with over 117,000 units sold in its 10th anniversary.
This Pontiac Firebird Esprit remained forgotten for decades in the same yard until the property was sold. With the sale, the car had to be removed. It was then that the eBay seller, identified as arek6565, decided to rescue it and offer it for auction, where any interested party can place a bid.
Current Condition of the Vehicle
The seller revealed that the Firebird Esprit was moved to their residence in Frazier Park, California. Minor repairs were made to test the car’s performance after so many years of inactivity. The original hood, which was rusty, was replaced with another one purchased locally.
However, the rest of the vehicle remains in good condition, considering the time it was exposed to the elements.
The interior of the car also presents a reasonable condition. Although the overall appearance is promising, the owner emphasizes that the Firebird is not ready to drive. The brakes have been serviced, and new parts were installed, allowing the car to move.
The engine starts and runs, but there is one important limitation: it cannot run for more than 10 minutes.
Restoration and Market Value
For those looking to acquire the Firebird Esprit, it will need to be transported on a trailer to its new home. A complete overhaul is necessary, especially for the engine. Proper restoration can turn the vehicle into an excellent car for occasional outings.
Although Trans Am models are more valued in the market, a 1976 Pontiac Firebird Esprit also holds its value, especially when properly restored.
The demand for total originality may not be the best option after so many years. Even so, the current setup offers a great base for custom projects. If restored carefully, it could become a regular-use vehicle, attracting collectors and classic car enthusiasts.
Auction In Progress
The auction is taking place with no reserve price, meaning the car will be sold to the highest bidder, regardless of the final amount. The minimum bid required to enter the contest is US$ 3,500. The sale has already generated significant interest, with 71 people adding the Firebird to their watch lists.
The auction is scheduled to last for the next four days. There are expectations that the Firebird will find a new owner willing to give it the restoration and attention it deserves. If the final price is accessible, the 1976 Firebird Esprit may soon gain new life and return to the roads.
