A domestic accident that scared a mother ended up becoming the inspiration for a million-dollar business. Entrepreneur Amanda Chatah created Muskinha, a manufacturer of children’s furniture, after seeking a safer solution for her own daughter’s room. Currently, the company reports an annual revenue close to R$ 9 million and serves clients in various regions of Brazil.

The story began in 2010, when Amanda’s eldest daughter fell from the crib during the night. The incident led the entrepreneur to look for alternatives that offered more safety for young children.

At the time, Amanda worked in the foreign trade sector and maintained a blog focused on motherhood. It was precisely through this channel that she began to share experiences about children’s rooms and solutions for families’ daily lives.

Idea arose from a real need

After the accident, Amanda decided to replace the traditional crib with a Montessori bed, a model inspired by the method developed by Italian doctor and educator Maria Montessori. The concept involves lower beds, allowing the child greater autonomy and reducing the risk of falls.

However, she found it difficult to purchase this type of furniture in the Brazilian market. Faced with the lack of options, she decided to develop her own project.

The initiative caught the attention of other mothers who followed her blog. Quickly, requests began to emerge for the production of similar furniture.

Business started at home

Recognizing the potential of the idea, Amanda decided to invest in the project. To finance the first steps of the business, she sold her own car and used the resources to start production.

The company started modestly but gained ground as demand increased. In addition to Montessori beds, the brand began manufacturing other furniture aimed at the children’s market.

With the growth in sales, Muskinha expanded its production structure and consolidated its presence in the children’s furniture segment.

Participation in Shark Tank boosted growth

One of the most important moments in the company’s trajectory occurred in 2022, when Amanda participated in the Shark Tank Brazil program, broadcast by Sony Channel.

During the presentation, the entrepreneur showcased Muskinha’s business model to the program’s investors. The participation gave the brand national visibility and helped strengthen its presence in the market.

Moreover, the television exposure expanded the company’s reach and contributed to the increased demand for its products.

Millionaire revenue

Today, Muskinha operates with its own factory and sells children’s furniture to customers in different Brazilian states.

According to Amanda Chatah, the company achieved an annual revenue close to R$ 9 million, a result that reflects the growth of a business born from a personal need.

The brand specialized in products that combine safety, functionality, and encouragement of children’s autonomy, characteristics that have become competitive differentiators over the years.
