New Shell Project Scheduled for 2023 in the Pre-Salt of the Santos Basin, With Production Estimates of 90 Thousand Barrels Per Day Connected to 10 Wells

The exploration block BM-S-54, named Gato do Mato and located in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, will feature a new project for the installation of an FPSO with anchoring led by Shell, announces the site E&P Brasil. The asset will be developed in the southern part of the block with the first oil expected in 2023, with the offshore unit designed to handle 90 thousand barrels per day of oil and 8.5 million cubic meters of natural gas.

Additionally, the FPSO will be capable of storing around 1.6 million bpd, with operations planned until 2048 (25 years).

  • The venture plans for 10 wells
  • 4 production wells
  • 4 gas injection wells
  • 2 seawater injector wells

Since there is already installed infrastructure in the Santos Basin, Shell can use two paths to transport natural gas, utilizing either the unit’s injection system or flowing through the PMXL-1 platform in Mexilhão or through the production system in Uruguá.
