Significant Growth in the National Music Market Driven by Streaming
In 2024, Spotify recorded a significant milestone by distributing R$ 1.6 billion in royalties to Brazilian artists, representing a 31% increase compared to the previous year. This growth surpasses the 21.7% expansion observed in the national recording market during the same period, according to data from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). The report “Loud & Clear 2025”, released by the platform on May 28, 2025, highlights that over 70% of this amount was allocated to independent artists or labels, evidencing the appreciation of local music production.
Consumption of National Music Leads Brazilian Preferences
The preference of Brazilians for national music is notable, with 84% of the tracks in the daily Top 50 on Spotify Brazil in 2024 being by local artists. Additionally, over 60% of the royalties generated in the country remained in the domestic market, reflecting the strong engagement of the public with national music production.

International Expansion of Brazilian Music
Brazilian music has also gained international space, being featured in over 815 million user playlists around the world, including countries like the United States, Mexico, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Spain. The growth of 51% in international streams of Brazilian artists in 2024 highlights the increasing popularity of national music abroad.

Significant Increase in the Discovery of Brazilian Artists
The year 2024 was also marked by a 19% increase in the discovery of Brazilian artists on the platform. In total, there were nearly 11.8 billion new listens, which highlights the strength of this significant growth. This advancement also clearly demonstrates the positive impact of Spotify in promoting national talents. Furthermore, the platform’s role in significantly expanding the audiences of these artists both in Brazil and abroad is noteworthy.
New Guidelines for Royalty Distribution
Since the end of 2023, Spotify has adopted a new policy. Therefore, a track must now reach a thousand annual plays to generate royalties. This change, besides being strategic, aims to ensure that the amounts paid are truly meaningful for the artists involved on the platform. Additionally, it prevents small amounts from being held back for not meeting the minimum thresholds required by publishers and record labels. With these updates, Spotify maintains its commitment. Thus, it continues to play an essential role in strengthening the Brazilian music industry. In this way, it promotes artistic diversity and, at the same time, significantly appreciates local culture throughout the country.
