New Volkswagen SUV Takes Monthly Lead in SUV Sales, Boosts Competition in Segment and Affects Annual Sales Ranking in Brazil.
The Volkswagen Tera consolidated in November its position as a new protagonist among SUVs in Brazil.
Data from Fenabrave shows that the model registered 9,772 units in the month and repeated its leadership in the monthly SUV sales ranking, a position it had already conquered in October.
As a result, Volkswagen’s entry-level SUV also ranks among the best-selling light vehicles in the country, second only to the Fiat Strada in the overall sum for November.

Despite the rookie’s surge, the T-Cross still maintains the lead in the accumulating total for 2025.
Between January and November, Volkswagen’s SUV totals 82,116 units licensed and remains the best-selling SUV in the country, ahead of Hyundai Creta, Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda HR-V, Chevrolet Tracker, and Jeep Compass.
In addition to its sales performance, the Tera relies on a mechanical set-up featuring a 1.0 turbo 170 TSI engine and efficient fuel consumption, with data certified by Inmetro allowing for an autonomy close to or exceeding 700 km with gasoline under road use, depending on the version.
Tera Leads November and Expands Share Among SUVs

In November, the Tera tops the list of SUVs with 9,772 units and leads a double success for Volkswagen in the segment.
The T-Cross closely follows, with 9,016 registrations. Next, the Hyundai Creta records 7,689 units.
The Jeep Compass totals 5,889 units and the Nissan Kicks reaches 5,646 units. The Honda HR-V adds up to 4,963 units and the Chevrolet Tracker appears with 4,528 units.
Fiat Fastback ends with 4,381 units, BYD Song registers 4,380 units, and Jeep Renegade with 4,230 units, complete the top 10.

When looking at the market for cars and light commercials as a whole, the Tera appears among the most licensed models in the country in November.
The model ranks just behind the Fiat Strada and surpasses high-volume hatchbacks and sedans, such as Chevrolet Onix, Volkswagen Polo, and Fiat Argo, in addition to the T-Cross itself.
Annual SUV Ranking Until November Shows T-Cross Dominance
Despite the Tera’s advance, the annual ranking is still led by the Volkswagen T-Cross, with 82,116 units.

The Hyundai Creta takes second place, with 67,997 units.
The Toyota Corolla Cross occupies third place, with 57,046 registrations.
Following closely are the Honda HR-V (56,827), Chevrolet Tracker (54,626), Jeep Compass (54,616), Nissan Kicks (51,955), Fiat Fastback (51,791), Volkswagen Nivus (44,480), and Fiat Pulse (40,641).

| 10 | Fiat Pulse | 40,641 |
The Tera has not yet made it to the annual ranking because its commercialization began in 2025, with higher volumes starting from mid-year.
Even so, the SUV has already surpassed 37,000 units accumulated through November.
Corolla Cross Decline: Direct Impact of the Storm on Toyota
The November tables show a significant drop in the Toyota Corolla Cross, which fell out of the top 10 for the second consecutive month and dropped to the 18th position.
The model went from 7,282 units in September to 1,465 in November, a retraction of nearly 80%.
The main cause lies in production.
On September 22, a storm with gusts of about 90 km/h hit Toyota’s engine factory in Porto Feliz (SP).
The wind tore roofs off buildings, damaged machinery, and halted production.
This unit supplies engines for Sorocaba and Indaiatuba, which manufacture Corolla and Corolla Cross.

With production halted, the automaker suspended production lines, negotiated layoff agreements with unions, and considered importing engines to mitigate the impact on supply.
This scenario explains the drastic reduction in monthly registrations, although the Corolla Cross remains well positioned in the overall 2025 tally.
What Is the Volkswagen Tera: Engine, Versions, Fuel Economy, and Safety
Positioned as an entry-level compact SUV, the Tera uses the MQB A0 platform, the same as Polo and Nivus.
The model measures just over 4.15 meters in length and about 2.57 m in wheelbase.
The engine options include two 1.0 flex setups.
In the entry-level versions, the Tera features the 1.0 MPI naturally aspirated engine, with up to 84 hp and a five-speed manual transmission.
In the higher versions, the SUV utilizes the 1.0 170 TSI turbo, with up to 116 hp and 16.8 kgfm of torque.
The transmission can be a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
The lineup includes four main configurations: MPI, TSI, Comfort, and High.
Depending on the version, the model offers VW Play multimedia system, optional digital air conditioning, larger alloy wheels, and additional driver assistance systems.
In terms of fuel economy, data from Inmetro and specialized publications indicate averages above 12 km/l in the city and up to 15 km/l on the highway with gasoline.
The autonomy can approach or exceed 700 km in road use.

In safety, the Tera brings six airbags, stability and traction controls, hill-start assist, Isofix, and seatbelt alerts.
In June 2025, the model received five stars in the Latin NCAP, both for adults and children.
Brazilian Market Surpasses 2.4 Million New Vehicles in 2025
Between January and November, Brazil registered 2,409,807 vehicles, including cars, light commercials, trucks, and buses.
The volume represents a 1.38% increase over 2024.
The passenger car segment closed the period with 1,785,840 units, a growth of 1.57%.
In November, there were 182,044 registrations, a decrease of 5.55% compared to October.
The light commercial segment totaled 496,559 units for the total, an increase of 2.72%.
In November, there was a decrease of 18.13% compared to the previous month.
Meanwhile, trucks and buses recorded 127,408 units between January and November, a decrease of 5.89%.

Fenabrave Revises Projections and High Credit Restricts Part of the Demand
Fenabrave has revised its growth forecast for 2025, lowering the expectation from 5% to 3% in the passenger car and light commercial segment.
The new forecast indicates 2,559,345 units to be registered by the end of the year.
For trucks, the estimate is a drop of around 7%, while buses are expected to close 2025 with close to 6% growth.
The president of the entity, Arcelio Júnior, stated that “with a lower interest rate, the growth in car and light commercial sales would be much stronger.”
Amid a competitive landscape and with still high credit prices, the combination of price, fuel economy, and features may keep the Volkswagen Tera among the highlights in the Brazilian market.
The lingering question is whether the SUV will have the stamina to turn this strong monthly result into leadership in the cumulative totals for the coming years; what would be your bet for this competition among compact SUVs?
