The Internship and Trainee Positions Opened by Ternium, Formerly Atlantic Steel Company, Are for the State of Rio de Janeiro

 Ternium, previously known as Atlantic Steel Company, is today, on this May 25th, offering various internship and trainee opportunities to work in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The company, which is considered one of the largest steelmakers in the country, is hiring candidates without experience to join the workforce in different areas, primarily engineering.

About Ternium

Ternium is the largest steel company in Latin America, producing special steels with a focus on customer needs, safety, and respect for the environment. Ternium has already invested R$ 11 billion in Brazil and is the largest shareholder of Usiminas.

Since 2017, Ternium has had its own plant in Brazil, in Santa Cruz, Rio de Janeiro. The plant has the capacity to produce 5 million tons of steel plates annually, with a high level of sophistication, serving the automotive, oil and gas, machinery, white goods, naval, and energy industries in the USA, Mexico, Brazil, and Europe. It is the largest steel producer in the entire company and generates over 8,000 jobs, both direct and outsourced.

Ternium Internship Programs

The Ternium Internship Program is dedicated to students from different fields. Candidates must be in their 4th semester of college or higher and have intermediate English knowledge. The program has a workload of 6 hours a day and lasts up to 2 years. The selected students will work at Ternium’s plant in the Santa Cruz neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro.

Ternium internships are divided into two programs:

• Research and Development (R&D) Internship: The R&D internship at Ternium develops partnerships with some universities for the development of projects focused on the steel industry. Aimed at engineering students, the youth from Rio de Janeiro alternate between the company and university based on their availability, while youths from other states work at the plant during vacation periods.
• Summer Internship: Ternium’s Summer Internship Program is aimed at students from different fields, primarily Engineering. The selection process takes place between September and November, and the internship occurs from December to February, during the students’ vacation period.

Ternium Trainee Program

The Ternium trainee program will also take place in Rio de Janeiro and is open to recent graduates who have a strategic business vision and potential to become future leaders of the company.

• Prerequisites: Graduating or up to 2 years post-graduation in Engineering; Advanced English.
• Program Duration: Up to 2 years.
• Behavioral Profile: Ability to act, achieve, and conquer; Analytical and planning skills; Self-motivated, with autonomy and initiative; Emotionally mature; Adaptable to work in multicultural teams; Tech-savvy.
