Youtuber Tests Real Consumption of Corolla XEi 2.0 2019 With and Without Air Conditioning and Reveals Significant Difference in Fuel Economy.
In a simple and straightforward experiment, the youtuber Tiago, from the channel Carros Com Tiago, decided to put the real consumption of the 2019 Toyota Corolla XEi 2.0 to the test.
The test caught attention for its practical approach and the results reveal interesting performance for a mid-size sedan.
The goal was clear: to find out how many kilometers the vehicle could travel on just two liters of gasoline.

Costing R$ 57,676 and with a range of up to 815 km, the Volkswagen up! TSI 2018 gets 16.3 km/l on the highway and can be financed with estimated installments of R$ 1,314.

Now NASA is coming: Uno Mille with parts from 17 cars, neon, spoiler, and a ladder on the roof is transformed into a Brazilian version of Brian’s car in Fast & Furious
-
5 spacious and valued used sedans starting at R$ 45,000 offer up to 536 liters of trunk space, fuel consumption of 15.6 km/l, automatic or CVT transmission, and engines up to 144 hp

Anyone who relies on a motorcycle for work or to save money needs to look to 2026: the industry is preparing a leap that could change the pace of the streets and the Brazilian market in the coming months, significantly across the country.
The Consumption Test
To achieve this, the first step was to completely empty the Corolla’s tank, ensuring that there was no residual fuel that could interfere with the measurement.
Next, Tiago added exactly two liters of gasoline to the tank and began the test on a highway, maintaining a speed between 80 and 100 km/h.
In the first part of the evaluation, the air conditioning remained on throughout the journey. The vehicle managed to travel 27 kilometers with the two liters of gasoline.
This resulted in an average consumption of 13.5 kilometers per liter — a reasonable performance, considering the added comfort of the air conditioning and the 2.0 naturally aspirated engine.
Test With Air Conditioning Off
After the first test, Tiago repeated the procedure. Two more liters were added to the tank, and the average speed was maintained.
The only difference: this time, the air conditioning was turned off. The result was superior. The Corolla traveled 30 kilometers, recording an average of 15 kilometers per liter.
The improvement in consumption was clear, with an increase of 1.5 km/l compared to the previous test.
The numbers obtained indicate that, under ideal driving conditions and with constant driving, the 2019 Corolla XEi 2.0 can indeed offer good performance.
Especially considering that the model features a larger displacement engine and is known more for comfort and durability than for being particularly economical.
The Result
The test also reinforces a question often ignored by drivers: the impact of using air conditioning on fuel consumption.
Although thermal comfort is essential for many, turning it off on stretches of road can represent significant savings in the long run.
The experience conducted by Tiago shows that, even without sophisticated devices, it is possible to obtain useful and real data about a vehicle’s consumption in everyday life.
For those looking for a used Corolla and wanting to better understand the running costs, the video and the data collected by the channel help clarify a common question: after all, does the Corolla consume a lot or not?
Based on the numbers, the answer seems to be: it depends on how you drive — and whether the air conditioning is on.
