Youtuber tests real consumption of the Corolla XEi 2.0 2019 with and without air conditioning and reveals a significant difference in fuel economy.
In a simple and straightforward experiment, YouTuber Tiago, from the channel Cars With Tiago, decided to put the real consumption of the Toyota Corolla XEi 2.0 year 2019 to the test.
The test attracted attention due to its practical approach and the results, which revealed interesting performance for a mid-size sedan car.
The objective was clear: to find out how many kilometers the vehicle can travel with just two liters of gasoline.

Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic lead the ranking of the most reliable engines for sale in Brazil in 2025: see which models offer economy, durability and low maintenance
The consumption test
To do this, the first step was to completely empty the Corolla's tank, ensuring that there was no residual fuel that could interfere with the measurement.
Then, Tiago put exactly two liters of gasoline in the tank and started the test on a highway, maintaining the speed between 80 and 100 km/h.
In the first part of the evaluation, the air conditioning remained connected throughout the entire journey. The vehicle managed to travel 27 kilometers with two liters of gasoline.
This resulted in an average consumption of 13,5 kilometers per liter — a reasonable performance, considering the additional comfort of the air conditioning and the 2.0 naturally aspirated engine.
Test with the air conditioning off
After the first test, Tiago repeated the procedure. Another two liters were filled into the tank and the average speed was maintained.
The only difference: this time, the air conditioning was turned off. The result was better. The Corolla covered 30 kilometers, recording an average of 15 kilometers per liter.
The improvement in consumption, in this case, was clear, with an increase of 1,5 km/l compared to the previous test.
The numbers obtained indicate that, in ideal driving conditions and with constant driving, the Corolla XEi 2.0 2019 can indeed offer good performance.
Especially considering that the model has a larger displacement engine and is known more for its comfort and durability than for being exactly economical.
The result
The test also highlights an issue often ignored by drivers: the impact of air conditioning use on fuel consumption.
Although thermal comfort is essential for many, turning it off on stretches of road can represent significant savings in the long term.
The experiment conducted by Tiago shows that, even without sophisticated equipment, it is possible to obtain useful and real data about a vehicle's consumption on a daily basis.
For those looking for a used Corolla and want to better understand the running costs, the video and data collected by the channel help to clarify a common question: After all, does the Corolla consume a lot of fuel or not?
By the numbers, the answer seems to be: it depends on how you drive — and whether the air conditioning is on.
This car is not economical at all and a tractor, but not economical, this **** is very wrong.
I want to see him do half of that in traffic, it will drop considerably to 6 or 7 km/l.
True. And I don't even get stuck in traffic, just short trips in the city. Mine doesn't do more than 7,5 km/l.
In traffic jam even a UNO 1 will drink!
I had a baby beast like the Rav4 2.5 that I have now, it's ****, not to mention that CVT gearbox is so weak that it's just ****, it doesn't start, if you step on it the beast only gives a start-up rotation which is no good.
You buy a car like that specifically for comfort, and you want to put your foot down... buy a Ferrari but don't complain about the fuel consumption... lol. Please. But I guarantee you that in terms of comfort, the Ferrari doesn't even come close to a Corolla. That's even better here on our lunar soil.
