The most awaited car of 2024, the new Toyota Yaris Cross promises to be the best-selling in its category and scare giants like Creta and Renegade with its national production. The brand, after losing so many sales to competitors like Volkswagen, Hyundai, Jeep, among others, decided to take action and finally bring to Brazil a new Toyota SUV option.

The new Toyota SUV aims to position itself as an entry model in its catalog and compete with other major players in the segment such as Chevrolet Tracker, Jeep Renegade, Fiat Fastback among many others that have been performing extremely well here.

One of the most anticipated SUVs of all, the new Yaris Cross is a car that has a promising future in Brazil, bringing PCD configurations and a wide range of versions and prices. It will surely make a lot of noise on national soil and shake up the segment this year. The new Toyota SUV is built on the DNGA platform, which is a simplified version for compact models derived from TNGA.

New Toyota Yaris SUV Will Be Developed on the DNGA Platform

TNGA, for those who don’t know, is where the Corolla Cross and other medium-sized cars are made. The new Toyota SUV was the car the public always asked for, but since the European Yaris Cross never had a chance to be offered here, due to being from a completely different and exclusive platform for Europe, it needed Asia to produce its own Yaris Cross completely different for it to be offered here, and that is what will happen.

It is worth noting that the new Yaris Cross is already being tested in Brazil with heavy camouflage and will arrive this year.

Design of the New SUV Impresses

In dimensions, the model measures 4.31 m in length, 2.62 m in wheelbase, 1.77 m in width, 1.61 m in height, weighing up to 1238 kg and accommodating a good 405 L of luggage in the trunk. The look is nice and it resembles a mini Corolla Cross.

In front, we have a hexagonal grille, sporty bumper, and full LED headlights, including fog lights. On the sides, the new Toyota SUV comes with a two-tone paint job, aluminum-finished roof rails, chromed window trim, and wheels of up to 17 inches. At the back, the Yaris Cross adopts a gray insert on the bumper, integrated spoiler, and full LED taillights.

When it comes to powertrains, the new Toyota SUV arrives with modest options, but they can adequately meet Brazilian needs. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder aspirated Flex will generate 111 horsepower on ethanol and up to 15 kgfm of torque.

Currently, it produces 14.9 kgfm, so there will be a slight gain. The transmission will always be an automatic CVT type simulating up to seven gears.

In the top configurations, the model will feature a new hybrid system that also uses a 1.5 aspirated gasoline engine coupled with an additional self-recharging electric motor. Similar to the Corolla Cross, it will have between 120 and 130 combined horsepower.

Interior of the Toyota SUV Features Various Technologies

Inside, the new Toyota Yaris Cross shares a lot with its sedan sibling. The SUV has a finish that is even good for the category, with hard plastic and synthetic leather covering various areas of the interior. The interior space accommodates four adults and one child comfortably.

In terms of equipment, the car is quite complete and features a configurable digital dashboard, multifunction steering wheel, wireless phone charging, configurable LED ambient lights, keyless entry, digital climate control, trunk with electric opening and closing with a proximity sensor, electronic parking brake, driving mode selector, panoramic sunroof, premium JBL sound system, air vents for the rear seat, and much more.
