Saipem Told Brazilian Court That It Is Confident No Wrongdoing Occurred in the Awarding of These Contracts
The Italian oil services group Saipem said Brazilian authorities opened proceedings into alleged irregularities regarding two of its businesses in the awarding of a contract in 2011.
Saipem, which is controlled by the oil company Eni and the Italian Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, said its French and Brazilian subsidiaries were notified on Thursday that authorities had initiated administrative proceedings.
The case revolves around a €56 million (US $62 million) contract awarded by Petrobras for the installation of a submarine pipeline connecting the Lula and Cernambi fields in Santos, in southern Brazil.
Saipem expressed confidence that no wrongdoing occurred in the awarding of the contract and stated that its units would cooperate in the process. ($ 1 = 0.8981 euros). Reuters
