Registration Open for Free Basic Computer Course, Empowering Youth Aged 16 and Above with Essential Technology Skills
The State University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UEMS), through its Computer Science and Information Systems courses, announced the opening of registrations for the Basic Computer Course 2025 – 1st Semester. This free course is an excellent opportunity for anyone aged 16 and above who wishes to acquire essential knowledge in technology.
Registration Details
Registrations for the course will be open from March 5 to April 4. There will be 100 spots available for the first registrants, while others will be placed on a waiting list.

Course Format and Content
The university’s course will be conducted online, with recorded classes available on YouTube. Classes will occur every Saturday at 1 PM (MS time), from March 15 to June 28. The course content covers fundamental topics, including:
- Introduction to the Computer
- Operating Systems: Windows and Linux
- Web Browsing: Firefox and Chrome
- Email Usage
- Office Suite: LibreOffice
After each class, participants must complete a questionnaire on Google Forms by the following Saturday, with participation being mandatory for continuing in the course.
Assessment and Certification Rules
Students will have access to Q&A sessions via Google Meet at the end of each module. The assessment will consist of 10 questions, with a minimum average of 7.0 required for passing.
Additionally, participants must maintain a minimum attendance of 75% to obtain the 48-hour certificate.

Attention to Registrants
Participants should keep an eye on the email registered during enrollment, as the link to the course’s WhatsApp group will be sent.
This group will serve as the main communication channel between students and the course organizers.
About the State University Project
This initiative is a result of a partnership between the Applied Computing Research Group (GPCA/UEMS) and the Brazilian Army (EB), initially aimed at training soldiers.
Over time, the course expanded to the community of Dourados/MS, promoting digital inclusion and professional qualification for a broader audience.
