What Is A 6th Generation Drillship?

It is a state-of-the-art semi-submersible unit equipped with a twin RamRig system and a dynamic positioning system (DP3). Also called a Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU), it performs drilling in ultra-deep waters, designed to operate in water depths of up to 12,000 feet and with a drilling depth capacity of up to 50,000 feet below the rotary table.
