The GTI Performance Package, which adds technical enhancements, costs an additional €4,200.
Performance and Engine of the Golf GTI Edition 50
The 2.0 turbo engine has received specific calibration to generate 325 HP and 42.8 kgfm of torque.
This power exceeds that of the GTI Clubsport but maintains the front-wheel drive, a traditional characteristic of the lineup.
The electronic management system has been revised to provide faster responses, according to Volkswagen.

Standard, the model features adaptive damping DCC and a body 15 millimeters lower compared to the conventional Golf.
With the GTI Performance Package, the lowering reaches 20 millimeters.
The package includes 19-inch forged wheels, Bridgestone Potenza Race semi-slick tires, and a R-Performance exhaust system with a titanium muffler, which reduces weight and improves thermal performance at high temperatures, according to technical information from the manufacturer.
Chassis, Stability, and Driving Adjustments
The Performance chassis was developed exclusively for the model and uses stiffer springs, increasing the natural frequency of the axles by 20%.
According to Volkswagen engineers, this adjustment improves cornering stability and control at high speeds.
The front camber has also been increased to enhance track grip.
In tests conducted by the development team at the Nürburgring, the car showed lap times close to those of all-wheel-drive sports versions, according to specialized European press.
External Design and Visual Details
Among the exclusive elements of the edition are the enhanced rear spoiler with a gloss black finish, exhaust tips in the same color, and mirrors with darkened paint.
The “GTI/50” emblem appears on the sill plates, the spoiler, and the multifunctional steering wheel.

On the sides, there is a gradient stripe that goes from black to the body color.
Interior and Onboard Technology
Inside, the bucket seats maintain the checkered pattern, characteristic of the GTI, but with green details and ArtVelours (synthetic suede) upholstery.
The dashboard incorporates two digital screens — a 12.9-inch multimedia display and a 10.2-inch instrument cluster — featuring Volkswagen’s new interface, also present in the facelift of the eighth generation.
Colors, Wheels, and Customization Options
The Edition 50 is offered in five color options: white, gray, black, in addition to the exclusive shades Dark Moss Green Metallic and Tornado Red.
Among the available wheel versions are the 19-inch Queenstown, with finishes that may include details in translucent red.
The car also features a black-painted roof and IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights.
The GTI Performance package, according to Volkswagen, enhances handling on tracks and includes a lighter exhaust system and recalibrated suspension geometry.

These changes result in firmer behavior in corners without compromising comfort in standard driving mode, as announced by the brand.
Price and Availability in Europe
The base price of the Golf GTI Edition 50 in Europe is €54,540, positioning it between the GTI Clubsport and the Golf R in performance and features.
With the optional GTI Performance package, the price rises to €58,740 before additional finishing options.
According to the manufacturer, deliveries are expected to start in the first quarter of 2026.
Golf GTI in Brazil
In Brazil, Volkswagen has reintroduced the Golf GTI MK 8.5, imported from Germany.
The local model costs R$ 430 thousand in the configuration with checkered seats and R$ 445 thousand in the version with Vienna upholstery.
The automaker has established specific sales rules, similar to those of luxury brands, with a limit of one unit per buyer and priority for customers who already own sporty models from the group, such as Audi or Porsche.
The Brazilian GTI uses the same 2.0 turbo engine, but with 245 HP and 37.7 kgfm of torque.

The performance, according to the manufacturer’s data, is 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
The transmission is a seven-speed DSG automatic, with front-wheel drive.
Industry experts suggest that the European model, with 325 HP, is expected to remain limited to the international market as there has been no official confirmation from Volkswagen regarding a potential import of the commemorative edition.
Position in the Lineup and Historical Relevance
The Edition 50 positions itself between the GTI Clubsport and the Golf R, maintaining front-wheel drive and performance close to versions with all-wheel drive.
The aim, according to the brand, is to celebrate the legacy of the Golf GTI and reinforce the model’s role as a symbol of Volkswagen’s sports engineering.
With this launch, the GTI Edition 50 marks a symbolic chapter in the half-century history of the Golf.
With 325 HP, forged wheels, and a DSG transmission, the hatch stands out as the most powerful front-wheel-drive GTI ever produced.
