Imported from Mexico, the midsize SUV will be sold starting at R$ 199,990 for the Comfortline version, while the Highline costs R$ 209,990, with sales beginning on January 22 through the brand’s network.
The most significant drop is seen in the top-of-the-line version.

The Taos Highline now costs R$ 209,990, down from R$ 231,990 previously, a difference that explains most of the announced cut.
Meanwhile, the Taos Comfortline drops from R$ 206,990 to R$ 199,990, repositioning the model in the segment amid intense competition among midsize SUVs.
Prices of the Taos 2026 and Repositioning in the Segment
Volkswagen is banking on the combination of product update with more competitive pricing to sustain the Taos, now sourced from Mexico.
In practice, the 2026 lineup simplifies the offerings in Brazil into two configurations and concentrates the difference in proposal mainly on the driver assistance package, in finishing items, and in convenience features.

Even with the reduction, the model maintains its role as the midsize SUV from the brand in the range of R$ 200,000, focusing on connectivity, safety, and a mechanical package already well known to Brazilian consumers.
Updated Look Follows Volkswagen’s New Identity
The external changes reinforce the alignment of the Taos 2026 with the latest visual language from Volkswagen.
At the front, the SUV adopts narrower headlights, a new grille, and a redesigned bumper, with a more prominent air intake.
The internal signature of the LED headlights features a design described as having a “X” shape, integrated into the IQ.Light system, now offered as standard in the versions sold in the country.
At the rear, the model adopts a light bar connecting the taillights, integrated into a strip with a glossy black finish.
The Volkswagen emblem with red lighting appears at the center of the trunk lid.
The wheels are 18 inches in the Comfortline version and can reach 19 inches in the Highline.

Interior Gains Floating Center and Revised Finish
Inside, the Taos 2026 focuses its main updates on the user experience and perception of quality.
The highlight is the 10.1-inch VW Play Connect multimedia center, now in a semi-floating position.
The system allows wireless mirroring for Apple CarPlay and integrates the brand’s digital resources.
The SUV retains the dual-zone digital air conditioning and the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, in addition to new upholstery on the seats, dashboard, and doors.
The aim is to elevate the interior standard in the 2026 lineup without altering the overall architecture of the cabin.
Equipment Prioritize Safety and Driver Assistance
The Comfortline version comes with a safety package comprising six airbags and assistance systems such as autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, traction and stability controls, and emergency braking alerts.

Also included are items such as dual-zone digital air conditioning, keyless entry, push-button start, rearview camera, wireless phone charging, and full LED headlights.
The Highline configuration enhances the package with a focus on assisted driving and comfort.
Among the highlights are the adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping and lane-change assistants, and driving mode selector.
In the Highline version, Volkswagen also offers two options.
- Bi-tone Package, with a black-painted roof and mirrors.
- Panoramic sunroof.
New Automatic Transmission Maintains 1.4 Turbo Engine

In addition to the change in origin, which shifts from Argentina to Mexico, the Taos 2026 debuts a new eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previous six-speed transmission.
The engine remains the well-known 1.4 turbo flex from the TSI family, with 150 hp of power and 25.5 kgfm of torque.
With the new setup, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds, a performance 0.3 seconds better than recorded before the restyling.
Dimensions and Trunk Space Remain Unchanged
There were no changes in external dimensions for the 2026 lineup.
The Volkswagen Taos measures 4.46 meters in length, 1.84 meters in width, 1.62 meters in height, and 2.68 meters in wheelbase.
The trunk maintains a capacity of 498 liters, one of the highlights of the model for family use and travel.
With lower prices, updated look, more embedded technology, and the adoption of a new automatic transmission, will the package presented by the Taos 2026 be enough to make it a more competitive choice among the midsize SUVs sold in Brazil?
