With Chinese technology, the MG Motor model expands China's presence in the electric car market in Brazil
MG Motor, a Chinese-British brand that belongs to the SAIC group, one of the largest in China, has confirmed the launch of the new generation of the MG4 EV in Brazil. The 100% electric hatchback will compete directly with the BYD Dolphin, another model manufactured by a Chinese giant that is already popular in the country. According to Autoesporte magazine, the MG4 will be one of the brand's main bets to consolidate China's presence in the compact electric segment.
With renewed design and larger dimensions, is 4,39 meters long and has a 2,75 m wheelbase — the MG4 EV is on the same level as models like the Golf GTI, but with the advantage of being powered entirely by clean energy.
Technology and autonomy with a Chinese seal
The new MG4 EV comes equipped with a 163 hp engine and lithium-iron-phosphate battery, offering a range of up to 350 km. According to the portal O Antagonista, the most powerful version, called XPower, can reach an impressive 435 hp and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3,8 seconds, reinforcing China's ability to deliver performance combined with technological innovation.

The direct competition with the BYD Dolphin reinforces China's presence in the Brazilian automotive market. According to The Wall Street Journal, Chinese automakers have been accelerating their investments in Latin America as part of a strategic expansion beyond Asia.
Autoesporte recalls that the MG4 was already being tested in Brazil, and its official arrival marks another step forward for China towards leadership global leader in the electric vehicle sector. The model is expected to be available for purchase in 2025, with competitive prices.
