Billion-dollar investment, large-scale logistics structure, and an unprecedented industrial operation place a small city in Mato Grosso do Sul at the center of one of the largest private projects being implemented in the country, with expected effects on transportation, energy, jobs, and supply.

On July 8, 2026, Vibra announced an investment of R$ 45 million to establish a fueling station within the Sucuriú Project, a cellulose factory built by Arauco in the municipality of Inocência, Mato Grosso do Sul.

Considered by the Chilean company as the largest cellulose factory in the world built in a single stage, the enterprise will receive US$ 4.6 billion and will have an annual capacity to produce 3.5 million tons of market cellulose.

Intended for the industrial, forestry, and logistics operations of the complex, the new structure will supply fuels and lubricants for silviculture, harvesting, and transportation activities, under a five-year contract signed between Vibra and Arauco.

Vibra station will store 1.27 million liters

With a total capacity of 1,270 cubic meters, equivalent to 1.27 million liters, the station will concentrate different products necessary for the operation of the future factory and the daily movement of machines, trucks, and other vehicles used in the operation.

The majority of this volume, corresponding to 1,110 cubic meters, will be reserved for diesel, while another 40 cubic meters will receive Automotive Liquid Reducing Agent, known as Arla, used in heavy vehicle emission control systems.

The structure will also include 90 cubic meters for lubricating oils, as well as 30 cubic meters for gasoline and ethanol, a combination planned to meet different equipment and vehicles used in the industrial, forestry, and logistics stages of the enterprise.

In addition to storage tanks, the facility will feature coverage, pumps, pipelines, a fire-fighting system, and support buildings, bringing together in one area the resources necessary to maintain the continuous supply of the operation.

To enhance product control and reduce interruptions, the project includes automation, space for spare parts, a fuel and lubricant analysis room, as well as administrative and technological infrastructure aimed at daily monitoring of activities.

In the area reserved for Arauco’s fleet, two bays for road unloading and eight fueling positions will be built, although Vibra’s official statement does not confirm that the structure can accommodate 16 trucks at the same time.

The space intended for convoy trucks will have an arm for diesel loading, lubricant pumps, and a system capable of inserting liquids through the lower valves of the tank vehicles, without the need to access the openings installed on the top.

Fuels will support forestry and logistics operations

According to Pedro Pyles, functional manager of Logistics Maintenance, Fuel Station, and Wood Yard at Arauco Celulose, the entire structure was designed to accompany the forestry and logistics stages associated with the operation of the future industrial unit.

The supply will include diesel, gasoline, ethanol, and lubricants, products necessary for the operation of equipment and vehicles used in the complex, while the operation seeks to increase energy efficiency and reduce unexpected stops during production activities.

According to the executive, the planning also aims to reduce maintenance costs and limit the risk of unplanned interruptions in the fleet, a factor considered relevant given the volume of machines, trucks, and equipment mobilized by the Sucuriú Project.

Among the fuels provided for in the contract is Vibra Agritop premium diesel, whose formulation, according to the distributor, helps preserve the vehicle’s injection system and can reduce consumption by 5% under the conditions evaluated by the company.

This estimate, however, was presented by Vibra itself and does not represent a guaranteed saving for all types of vehicles or operations, as performance depends on usage conditions, maintenance, and the characteristics of each activity.

By linking the reduction in consumption to the decrease in greenhouse gas emissions, the company also highlights possible environmental gains but did not detail in the announcement which methodology will be used to measure this result during the execution of the contract.

Sucuriú Project will start operating by the end of 2027

Scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2027, the factory occupies an area of approximately 3,500 hectares, located about 50 kilometers from the urban center of Inocência and near the Sucuriú River.

During the peak of construction, Arauco estimates the creation of more than 14,000 job opportunities, while about 6,000 people are expected to work in the industrial, forestry, and logistics areas after the start of regular activities.

Another relevant component of the project will be energy generation, estimated at more than 400 megawatts, of which approximately 200 megawatts will be consumed by the factory itself, according to the needs of the industrial process planned for the unit.

The excess volume, according to Arauco, should be directed to the national electricity commercialization system, expanding the reach of the enterprise beyond cellulose production and the energy supply necessary for the operation of the complex itself.

In addition to marking the Chilean company’s entry into cellulose manufacturing in Brazil, the Sucuriú Project represents the largest investment in Arauco’s history, which already operates in the country with forests, panels, moldings, resins, and chemical products.

Vibra expands presence in the corporate market

By implementing the station within the complex, Vibra strengthens its role in the corporate supply of fuels, energy, and logistical solutions for large industrial operations, a segment treated by the company as a strategic growth front in the Brazilian market.

Currently, the distributor claims to serve more than 32,700 companies through services directed at the B2B market, a structure that includes product supply, logistical planning, and support for clients with large-scale operations.

Due to the size of the Sucuriú Project, transportation, supply, and maintenance will need to operate continuously, transforming the internal infrastructure into a strategic part of the future factory and one of the main operational challenges of the enterprise in Inocência.

With thousands of workers, intense vehicle circulation, and a new industrial chain established in the municipality, how might the arrival of this project alter the economic, urban, and logistical routine of Inocência in the coming years?
