The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) is a national research and development institution in biological sciences, linked to the Ministry of Health. Currently, the foundation is offering more than 50 completely free courses, both distance and on-site, covering areas as diverse as IT, health, education, among others. Founded in 1900 by renowned public health physician Oswaldo Cruz, Fiocruz is the most important health science and technology institution in Latin America. Thus, it became a reference in research in the area of public health. The foundation is present in 10 Brazilian states, in addition to having an international office in Maputo, Mozambique.
In 2020, Fiocruz partnered with the University of Oxford and the AstraZeneca laboratory to produce the ChAdOx1 vaccine in Brazil, which is the Oxford vaccine. After approval by Anvisa, the immunizer was produced at the Institute of Technology in Immunobiologicals (Bio-Manguinhos/Fiocruz). In 2021, the institution added 153,2 million in vaccine deliveries to the Ministry of Health.
