In a recent video published on June 2, 2026, on the Noah Kane channel, the adventurer narrates how he found a giant tree in the mountains of Costa Rica, confirmed the location by satellite and drone, climbed the strangler fig alone, and spent the night in a suspended tent high in the canopy.
A video published on YouTube by the Noah Kane channel, on June 2, 2026, recorded the identification and climbing of a large strangler fig in a mountainous area of Costa Rica. The recording draws attention not only for the height of the tree but also for the way the canopy stands out above the forest and the complex structure of intertwined branches.
The tree was initially noticed during a hike in the region. Observing the valley from a distance, Noah noticed a canopy much larger than the others, standing out in the landscape. Due to its size and shape, he suspected it was a strangler fig, a species known for forming broad and branched structures throughout its growth.
After field observation, he analyzed satellite images to locate the approximate point where the tree would be. Then, he used a drone to confirm the suspicion. The aerial images showed a wide, tall, and visually complex canopy, formed by branches spreading in various directions.

Drone helped confirm the size of the tree
The aerial footage was one of the central stages of the recording. Seen from above, the fig appeared isolated in relation to the average height of the surrounding vegetation, standing out in the valley due to the size of the canopy. The image also revealed a dense natural structure, with crossed branches and internal spaces that were only perceptible from an elevated view.
Before entering the property, Noah sought permission from the landowner. With permission granted, he returned to the site with climbing, camping, and recording equipment. The goal was to climb to the top of the fig, hoist the materials, and set up a triangular suspended tent among the branches.
The climb required careful assessment. As he had never climbed that tree before, it was necessary to observe the base and look for a safer route. Some areas seemed smooth, others sloped, and there were few obvious support points. Initially, he considered using vines but discarded the route for not considering the points firm enough.
During the climb, the video shows concern for the stability of supports and the presence of animals in the canopy. Noah advanced slowly, spoke aloud to avoid surprising hidden animals, and paid attention to brittle or seemingly rotten sections. In one part, a support creaked under his foot, reinforcing the need for caution.
Suspended camp was more than 20 meters above the ground
Upon reaching the high part of the fig tree, Noah set up an anchor, descended to fetch the equipment, and climbed back up with the line already positioned. Then, he hoisted bags with camping gear and a camera.
The tent used in the video was triangular and needed to be secured at three strong points. After searching for an open and firm area within the canopy, he found a suitable configuration among the branches. The setup took place late in the afternoon, with about 30 to 40 minutes of natural light remaining.
According to the estimate made in the video, the tent was between 70 and 80 feet high, equivalent to approximately 21 to 24 meters. From the suspended structure, it was possible to see the ground between the leaves, as well as the mountainous landscape around. At a certain point, Noah claimed he could see as far as the San Luis waterfall area.
During the night, he remained connected to a safety system, organized the equipment inside the tent, and recorded the change of light in the canopy. At 6:04 PM, the day had already darkened. Later, around 8:30 PM, he showed the environment completely dark. During the early morning, he woke up around 3 AM and recorded the moon crossing the tree canopy.
In the morning, the video again showed the scale of the fig tree with sunlight entering between the branches. Noah dismantled the tent, lowered the bags carefully, threw the sleeping bag to the ground, and descended from the tree.
The footage highlights the scale of a strangler fig in the mountainous environment of Costa Rica, the use of satellite and drone images for locating the tree, the need for authorization to access the property, and the precautions required for climbing a tall, irregular, and living natural structure.
