Brazilian rescue technology combines heavy load, thermal vision, extreme lighting, and life buoy launching in an aircraft created to support teams in aquatic emergencies, floods, forests, slopes, and isolated regions, expanding the initial reach of operations in hard-to-access areas.

A Brazilian drone developed for critical search and rescue missions combines a load capacity of up to 50 kg, thermal camera, high-power lighting, long-range speaker, and a system for launching life buoys in aquatic operations.

Named UAVI 50 BS, the equipment was created to support rescue teams in locations where ground access is limited, dangerous, or time-consuming, such as floods, rivers, dams, beaches, dense forests, slopes, collapsed structures, and remote areas.

Developed by UAVI Global, a Brazilian aerospace technology company located in the Technological Innovation Park of São José dos Campos, in São Paulo, the aircraft was presented as a professional platform for civil defense, public safety, emergency response, and rescue.

According to information released by MundoGEO, the UAVI 50 BS was designed to operate in highly complex environments, especially when human teams need to gain aerial vision, reduce risks in the first contact, and reach points where movement by land or water is slower.

The main differentiator of the equipment is the combination of resources that typically appear separately in emergency operations, allowing the same aircraft to be used to observe the area, transport essential items, and support victims before the teams arrive in person.

Instead of acting only as an aerial camera, the drone can locate victims, illuminate dark areas, transmit instructions via speaker, transport emergency items, and launch flotation devices to people at risk in the water.

The logistical capacity reported by MundoGEO is up to 50 kg, a volume that allows carrying rescue equipment, first aid kits, emergency supplies, or other essential items to points where the arrival of a human team may be difficult or risky.

During occurrences of floods, landslides, flooded areas, or isolation by natural obstacles, this type of aerial transport extends the initial reach of field teams and allows resources to reach critical locations before the direct approach of rescuers.

Launching life buoys expands response on beaches, rivers, and floods

In aquatic operations, the UAVI 50 BS was designed to launch life buoys on beaches, rivers, reservoirs, and areas affected by floods, creating an initial response for victims who are far from the shore or in hard-to-reach locations.

The proposal is to provide immediate support until the arrival of lifeguards, firefighters, boats, or ground rescue teams, especially in situations where currents, distance, obstacles, or low visibility make direct approach riskier.

Another impactful feature is the thermal camera with night vision, used to identify heat signatures in environments where conventional vision loses efficiency, such as unlit areas, riverbanks, flooded regions, and spots covered by vegetation.

This type of sensor can support searches in dense forests, low-light areas, collapsed structures, slopes, riverbanks, and operations conducted at night when visual location of victims becomes more limited.

Thermal camera and 120,000 lumens lighting enhance night searches

The onboard lighting also draws attention due to the numbers, as according to MundoGEO, the drone features a high-power tactical lighting system of 120,000 lumens to enhance visibility in rescue scenes.

Aimed at extensive areas, night searches, dark locations, and occurrences in aquatic environments, this feature helps teams interpret the scenario before fully reaching the critical point, which can influence the organization of the response.

The long-range loudspeaker adds another layer of action to the equipment, as it allows operators to transmit instructions to victims, alert people in risk areas, and coordinate actions remotely without relying on immediate physical contact.

In flood scenarios, for example, this feature can guide safe movements, warn about nearby dangers, and maintain communication with isolated people while ground teams, boats, or firefighters move to the occurrence location.

UAVI 50 BS can support Civil Defense, firefighters, and public safety in remote areas

Designed for urban, rural, aquatic, and forest search and rescue, the platform was introduced as support for different types of emergencies, including scenarios where the terrain hinders the rapid advancement of ground teams.

Among the applications mentioned by MundoGEO are operations in dense forests, flooded areas, rivers, dams, slopes, collapsed structures, nighttime environments, and regions with low visibility, as well as missions that require quick response and aerial view of the terrain.

The equipment can also support Civil Defense, Fire Departments, and public safety teams in situations that require initial scene assessment, delivery of emergency items, and reducing the exposure of professionals to immediate risks.

The approximate autonomy reported in the technical catalog cited by MundoGEO ranges from 20 to 30 minutes, while the maximum operational distance reaches up to 2,000 meters and the maximum flight speed is 6 m/s.

In addition to the maximum ascent speed of 3 m/s, the aircraft operates in ambient temperatures between 0 °C and 50 °C, a range that allows use in different Brazilian climatic conditions and in operations conducted in regions with varied environmental profiles.

Quick recharge and modular architecture increase use in successive missions

Designed for operational routines, the battery system can be recharged in approximately 10 minutes on a three-phase network or 25 minutes on a single-phase network, according to the technical data released by MundoGEO and the available structure on site.

This point is relevant for successive missions, in which the aircraft may need to alternate between takeoffs, landings, load changes, configuration adjustments, and new activation during the same rescue operation.

The modular architecture allows the UAVI 50 BS to be configured according to the type of mission, adapting sensors, accessories, and onboard systems to the needs of search, rescue, logistical support, or communication with victims.

Among the available items are FPV and thermal cameras, radio control, FPV goggles, accessory box, circular life buoys, logistic hook system, search lighting, speaker with HT radio, and dedicated batteries.

With this configuration, the aircraft expands its use in different scenarios without being limited to a single function, which favors its application in aquatic operations, isolated areas, nighttime environments, and hard-to-reach situations.

National technology targets recurring challenges in floods, rivers, and isolated areas

The presence of this type of technology in Brazil is directly related to recurring challenges of the national territory, where floods, landslides, forest areas, extensive rivers, isolated communities, dams, and coastal regions are part of the routine of emergency teams.

In many of these cases, the time between activation and arrival at the critical point defines the rescue strategy, especially when cars, boats, or foot teams encounter natural obstacles, flooded areas, or unstable terrain.

Instead of replacing firefighters, lifeguards, Civil Defense agents, or medical teams, the drone was presented as a complementary tool to enhance vision, reach, and operational precision during the initial moments of the occurrence.

The aircraft can arrive first, map the scene, indicate the position of victims, send emergency items, and reduce the initial exposure of teams to risks such as currents, unstable terrain, debris, or low visibility.

The combination of domestic manufacturing, advanced sensors, high load capacity, and direct application in rescue makes the UAVI 50 BS a technology with strong public appeal, especially due to its connection with emergencies affecting different regions of the country.

Besides the visual aspect of a drone capable of launching buoys and illuminating dark areas, the equipment touches on a sensitive theme for Brazil: the response to emergencies in locations where cars, boats, or foot teams may take time to arrive.
