In March, the National Construction Index (SINAPI) had a variation of 0.35%, according to data released this Monday (11) by IBGE. The index was 0.12 percentage points above the rate recorded in February, which was 0.23%. In the accumulated total over 12 months, the increase reached 4.69%, surpassing the 4.39% observed in the previous twelve months.
Square Meter Cost Of Construction Rises
The national cost of construction per square meter increased from R$ 1,803.90 in February to R$ 1,810.25 in March. Of this total, R$ 1,043.45 refers to materials and R$ 766.80 to labor.
The share of materials had a variation of 0.35% for the month, above the rate of 0.29% recorded in February. Compared to March of last year, when the variation was 0.13%, the increase was 0.22 percentage points.

Labor Also Registers Increase
Labor showed a variation of 0.36% in March. This figure represents a rise of 0.22 percentage points compared to February, which stood at 0.14%. When compared to March 2024, which had a negative variation of -0.02%, the increase is 0.38 percentage points.
According to Augusto Oliveira, the survey manager, the first quarter of 2025 closed with accumulated variations of 0.82% for materials and 1.48% for labor. Over 12 months, the percentages were 3.71% for materials and 6.04% for labor.
Price Increases In Construction: South Region Leads Among Regions
Among the regions of the country, the South Region showed the largest monthly variation, at 0.43%. All federative units in the region recorded an increase. The other regional variations were: 0.42% in the North, 0.35% in the Northeast, 0.34% in the Southeast, and 0.24% in the Central-West.
Acre Has The Highest Index Among States
The state of Acre recorded the highest variation among states, at 4.11%. The increase was driven by adjustments made in professional categories and the rise in the share of materials.
