Graduate Student in Physical Education Creates Cycling Classes in Shanghai, Teaches 700 People, Serves Students from 4 to 68 Years Old and Accumulates 270 Thousand Yuan in Two Years

A Chinese student gained prominence in Shanghai by turning cycling classes into a business, accumulating around 270 thousand yuan in two years by teaching children and adults how to ride a bike, converting a basic skill into significant income.

Who Is Li Longshun

Li Longshun is a third-year graduate student in physical education at Shanghai University of Sport, balancing academic routine with practical classes taught during his free time.

Still affiliated with the university, Li serves children, youth, and adults, organizing in-person sessions that prioritize practical experience, individual attention, and gradual progress in bike control.

The project started after Li and a friend noticed an increase in demand for cycling classes in Shanghai, motivated by changes in urban habits.

Over time, the partner left the initiative upon securing a full-time job, while Li decided to continue the business alone and structure the class offerings.

Social Media as a Starting Point

Before the in-person classes, Li began producing instructional videos for social media, using educational content to attract interested parties and demonstrate teaching methods.

About two months after starting the promotion, the first client appeared, validating the digital strategy adopted by the student to reach a local audience.

Currently, most students come through the Xiaohongshu and Douyin platforms, as well as referrals made by satisfied former students.

Over the period, Li has taught approximately 700 people how to ride a bike, gradually expanding the client base.

The age of the students ranges from 4 to 68 years, with a predominance of young adults between 20 and 30 years old interested in mobility.

According to the student, about 70% of the clients are women, a profile that has remained consistent since the beginning of the activities.

Class Fees and Format

The highest amount received in a single day was 2,100 yuan, a result of combining packages and additional classes.

Li offers a package with a success guarantee for 800 yuan, usually including two classes of two hours for beginner adults.

If a student needs more time to learn, each additional class costs 200 yuan, keeping the model flexible.

Children’s classes follow a different format, as kids tend to require more sessions due to shorter attention spans.

Therefore, the children’s sessions are shorter, averaging 90 minutes, prioritizing safety and continuous attention.

Varied Motivations Among Students

Some students seek the classes to facilitate daily commutes to work, using the bike as a means of urban transportation.

Others look to learn quickly for specific needs, such as corporate integration activities involving recreational cycling.

Among the testimonials, one woman stated that she started classes to fulfill a childhood dream delayed by a lack of opportunity.

Another shared that she decided to learn how to ride to keep up with her daughter, strengthening family bonds during outings.

These additional details help explain the diversity of profiles served and the social reach of the initiative maintained by the student.
