The Toyota Yaris XLS 2020 combines a 1.5 flex engine, CVT transmission, seven airbags, sunroof, and fuel consumption of up to 15.9 km/l, standing out among used hatchbacks for its reliability and low maintenance cost.

When it comes to used compact hatchbacks, models like Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai HB20, and Chevrolet Onix usually lead the searches. However, there is a competitor that stands out for another reason: Toyota’s reputation for reliability. The Toyota Yaris XLS 2020 combines a 1.5 flex engine with up to 110 hp, CVT automatic transmission, seven airbags, sunroof, and mechanics known for durability, making it an interesting alternative for those looking for an automatic car with a good level of equipment.

According to a survey published by Quatro Rodas, the Yaris stands out for its comfort, after-sales service, availability of parts, and fuel consumption, achieving 12.5 km/l in the city and 15.9 km/l on the highway with gasoline in the XLS 1.5 CVT version.

1.5 Engine delivers up to 110 hp and works with CVT transmission

The XLS version uses the 1.5 Dual VVT-i Flex engine, which develops 110 hp with ethanol and 105 hp with gasoline, in addition to a maximum torque of 14.9 kgfm.

The set works exclusively with the CVT Multidrive transmission, which simulates seven gears through paddles behind the steering wheel. The transmission is derived from the one used by the previous generation of the Corolla and prioritizes smoothness and low consumption.

One of the main attractions of the Yaris is efficiency. In an evaluation by Quatro Rodas, the hatch recorded 12.5 km/l in urban routes and 15.9 km/l on highways using gasoline. These numbers place the model among the most economical automatics in the category.

XLS version offers seven airbags and a complete equipment package

Besides the mechanics, the level of equipment also draws attention. In the 2020 lineup, the Yaris XLS offers:

  • Seven airbags;
  • Electronic stability and traction control;
  • Hill-start assist;
  • Electric sunroof;
  • Digital air conditioning;
  • Leather upholstered seats;
  • Keyless entry with push-button start;
  • Rain sensor;
  • LED headlights and taillights;
  • Multimedia center compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (from the 2020 line).

Interior space is one of the highlights of the hatch

Although it is a compact hatch, the Yaris offers 2.55 meters of wheelbase, providing good space for rear passengers.

Another point praised by Quatro Rodas is the almost flat rear floor, which improves comfort for those traveling in the center seat. The trunk accommodates 310 liters, a capacity compatible with the category.
