Funding for the Acredita no Primeiro Passo Program Increases to R$ 1.6 Billion, Focusing on Entrepreneurship in the Northeast.

The Bank of the Northeast (BNB) announced that it will allocate R$ 1.6 billion to the Acredita no Primeiro Passo Program in 2025.

The information was disclosed by the institution’s president, Paulo Câmara, during an event held last Friday at Costa do Sauípe, on the coast of Bahia.

Increased Support for Entrepreneurship

The initiative, created by the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Hunger Combat (MDS), offers microcredit to families registered in the Unified Registry.

According to the bank’s president, the initially planned amount was R$ 1 billion, but more recent calculations allowed for an increase to R$ 1.6 billion.

The increase represents a 60% boost in the budget forecast for this year.

The main objective is to stimulate entrepreneurship, generate income, and create new job positions in the Northeast region, assisting families in situations of social vulnerability.

Higher Volume of Operations

Currently, the Bank of the Northeast is the main financial agent of the program. By February 2025, the bank had already executed over 86 thousand contracts, moving R$ 720.8 million in credit operations.

This performance confirms the institution’s central role in strengthening the initiative.

During the event, the Secretary of Socioeconomic Inclusion of the MDS, Luiz Carlos Everton, highlighted the importance of the announced increase.

He celebrated the expansion as a progress to support small entrepreneurs.

Credit for Those Who Need It Most

According to Paulo Câmara, the Acredita no Primeiro Passo was designed to offer real opportunities to beneficiaries of social programs. “The program seeks to provide credit to those who need it most, generate income and jobs, and boost the growth of the Northeast,” he stated.
