Chinese Brand Captivates Attention at Interlagos Festival with Futuristic Models from Yangwang Division. Check Out the News Below!
BYD drew attention at the Interlagos Festival with two stars from its luxury and performance portfolio. Highlighted was the super sports car Yangwang U9, with an impressive 1,300 hp, and the off-road SUV Yangwang U8, which can even float in flooded areas. Although there is still no forecast for arrival in the Brazilian market, the models stole the show at the Chinese brand’s stand, according to the website Terra.
In addition to the super machines, the public could also test-drive the Dolphin Plus, King, Song Plus Premium, Seal, Tan, and the new Shark pickup — the latter, on an off-road circuit specially prepared for the event.
Yangwang: The New Luxury Division of BYD
Still little known outside China, Yangwang is BYD’s sub-brand focused on high-performance and premium technology vehicles. Its first super sports car, the U9, came to show what it’s capable of.

While electric cars die in four hours, the British Hydromax aims to be the fastest hydrogen car in the world with 1,600 hp and a target of 563 km/h.

Chinese SUV with three engines, 1,380 hp, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.96 seconds debuts with ultra-fast charging and promises up to 1,416 km of total range for long trips in high modern luxury.
The model is 100% electric, with four motors — one for each wheel — delivering a combined power of 1,300 hp and 1,680 Nm of torque. The performance is brutal: from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds and a top speed of 309 km/h.
But it’s not just the power that impresses. The active suspension DiSus-X, with an intelligent hydraulic system, allows the car to literally “dance” to the sound of music or even jump over small obstacles. Even more impressive: it can operate with only three wheels touching the ground.
Yangwang U8: Luxury SUV with an Amphibious Soul
If the U9 surprises on the track, the Yangwang U8 commands respect off it. The SUV, which had made a brief appearance at Agrishow, again drew attention for its innovative survival features in extreme situations.
Thanks to Tankturn technology, the model can spin 360º on its own axis. But its biggest differentiator is its ability to face floods: with up to 1.60 meters of depth, it activates an emergency floating mode.
In this mode, the car automatically shuts off the combustion engine, closes windows, opens the sunroof as an escape route, and circulates air internally to prevent water entry. It can navigate like a boat for up to 30 minutes, with a range of 180 km on battery alone.
Five Motors and Abundant Performance
The U8 is a hybrid with extended range. It features a 2.0 turbo gasoline engine that acts as a generator, without driving the vehicle, along with four independent electric motors, each with 299 hp. The total output is 1,196 hp and 1,280 Nm of torque, ensuring brute force on any terrain.
