BYD Shark 2025: The hybrid pickup with 437 horsepower, 100 km of electric range and more expensive than the Ranger Raptor!
The BYD Shark 2025 has a payload capacity limited to 790 kg, well below its competitors that exceed 1 ton. Its independent suspension, designed for comfort, cannot handle the heavy work required of a traditional pickup truck.

With an electric range of up to 100 km, 790 kg of load capacity and a price of R$379 thousand, the BYD Shark 2025 promises luxury and technology, but leaves something to be desired in terms of performance as a pickup truck.

The BYD Shark 2025 has hit the market with the promise of being a game-changer in the hybrid pickup truck segment. Equipped with cutting-edge technology and a robust design, it positions itself as an innovative vehicle. But does it deliver on its promises? For many, the Shark is an excellent car, but it leaves something to be desired as a pickup truck. Let's understand why this controversy exists.

The Shark is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 437 horsepower. This puts it ahead of many pickup trucks in terms of performance. model has advanced features such as autonomous driving, independent suspension and an interior that rivals luxury SUVs.

Despite its innovations, the BYD Shark has faced criticism for its limited capability as a pickup truck. Its suspension, designed for comfort, is not ideal for heavy loads, and its high price puts the model in direct competition with more traditional and robust options.

BYD Shark 2025 design and technology

The BYD Shark 2025 dashboard features a high-resolution digital screen that displays information such as hybrid consumption, range and driving modes. It also allows adjustments to the air conditioning and brake regeneration, but it relies heavily on the multimedia center, making it difficult to quickly access basic functions.

It also allows adjustments to the air conditioning and brake regeneration, but it relies excessively on the multimedia center, making quick access to basic functions difficult.

Visually, the 2025 Shark shares similarities with models like the Ford F-150, but with a modern twist. The imposing front end, LED headlights, and striking details give the vehicle a premium look. However, to some, this may seem like itโ€™s โ€œborrowing too much inspirationโ€ from established designs.

Technology is one of the highlights of the BYD Shark. With functions such as energy regeneration, specific driving modes for different terrains and a rotating multimedia center, the model delivers convenience and innovation. Still, many criticize dependence from the control panel for simple adjustments, such as air conditioning control.

Performance and economy

Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5,7 seconds, the Shark 2025 outperforms even sports models. All-wheel drive and instant torque from the electric motors provide an exhilarating driving experience.

The BYD Shark promises a range of 100 km in all-electric mode, but in practice, the average is around 80 km. When used as a hybrid, economy depends on frequent recharging. Without charging, consumption drops to average levels, which may disappoint those looking for constant efficiency.

Performance as a pickup truck

One of the most criticized aspects of the Shark is its load capacity. With a limit of 790 kg, it lags behind competitors such as the Fiat Strada and other mid-size pickups. This is due, in part, to its independent suspension, which prioritizes comfort over robustness.

Traditional diesel pickup trucks, such as the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger, still dominate the market for its value for money and reliability. The Shark, with its high price and unconventional features, is not an attractive option for those who need a heavy-duty vehicle.

The Shark 2025 is ideal for those looking for an innovative and comfortable hybrid vehicle, but don't rely on a heavy-duty pickup truck. It's more of a luxury SUV with a bed than a functional pickup truck.

A pickup truck that is not suitable for work, is not economical on the road and is more expensive than the others, what is its purpose?
