LAAD 2025, which will be held from April 1 to 4 in Rio de Janeiro, will bring together exhibitors from around the world, including the Russian state-owned Rosoboronexport, which will bring models and materials of the Su-35 and Su-57 fighter jets to Brazil. Embraer will also participate with the KC-390 and the A-29 Super Tucano.
Between April 1 and 4, Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro will host the largest defense and security fair in Latin America: LAAD Defence & Security 2025. The event promises to bring together major companies in the military sector, both national and international, focusing on new technologies for armed forces, police, and public security.
This year, the focus is particularly on the participation of the Russian state-owned Rosoboronexport, which has confirmed its presence with a booth full of highlights, including the combat fighter jets Su-35 and Su-57, used in real military operations.
Russia Brings Elite Models to LAAD 2025, but No Flights in Brazil
Rosoboronexport has published videos and announcements confirming its presence at LAAD 2025 and has announced it will present iconic models from its military industry to the Brazilian public. This includes the Su-35 and Su-57 fighter jets, the Ka-52 attack helicopter, and the Il-76MD-90A cargo plane.

Researchers warn that rare earth mining in Southeast Asia threatens the Mekong’s “food basket,” with arsenic, mercury, lead, and cadmium advancing through rivers that sustain fishing, rice paddies, and the food security of nearly 70 million people.
However, these models will not be physically displayed in the pavilion, let alone in air presentations. Participation will be through models, videos, and promotional materials, within a booth featuring simulations and high-tech panels.
Even without flights, the simple display of these models has generated buzz on European and Asian websites and on Brazilian social media. The Su-57, for example, is promoted as a fifth-generation fighter, equivalent to the American F-35.
Embraer Bets on National Strength with the KC-390
On the Brazilian side at LAAD 2025, Embraer will bring its two biggest military assets: the KC-390 Millennium cargo plane and the A-29 Super Tucano. The KC-390 is already in operation in the air forces of Brazil, Hungary, and Portugal, with performance rates that impress—according to the company, it has a availability rate of over 99%.
The Super Tucano is considered one of the most efficient light attack aircraft in the world, used by over 15 countries and tested in real operations against insurgents and in patrol missions.
Embraer will also use the fair to showcase electronic defense systems, radars, and command and control solutions, all within the strategy of consolidating Brazil as an exporter of high-level military technology.
More than 30 Countries Will Be Present
LAAD 2025 will feature representatives from over 30 countries, including manufacturers of weapons, armored vehicles, drones, communication systems, and cybersecurity solutions. Among the confirmed exhibitors are companies from Germany, France, Israel, China, the USA, and South Korea.
In addition to exhibitions, the event will have a schedule of conferences and closed meetings between military delegations and suppliers. The Ministry of Defense, the Brazilian Armed Forces, and the Ministry of Justice are providing institutional support for the fair.
