Company Launches Electric Cargo Bicycle Powered by Solar Energy
Ikea, one of the largest furniture and home goods companies in Europe, is always focused on meeting consumer demands, and the proof of this is that the company is seeking ways to manage its state-of-the-art logistics through economical and environmentally-friendly means.
In recent years, the company has purchased several electric trucks for making deliveries. To finish the decade with a positive carbon footprint, Ikea has also developed a cargo bicycle that uses solar energy to move.
The model is named SunRider and debuted at the company’s store in Deft, in the Netherlands. The vehicle had already been in use for several months to transport medium and small-sized products to customers living nearby the store. The project, which until then was experimental, generated great success, and now the company plans to expand its use to all locations that require it.
