The former President of the United States, Donald Trump, recently confirmed his intention to offer a position to billionaire Elon Musk if he is elected again. In an interview with Reuters, Trump referred to Musk as a “brilliant guy” and emphasized that he would like to have him in a consulting role or even in a Cabinet position at the White House.

“I Am Willing To Serve” Musk
Hours after Trump’s interview, Elon Musk shared on his social media an AI-generated image of himself on a podium, surrounded by American flags, with the caption: “I am willing to serve”. The post generated significant uproar and was seen as an indication that Musk might be open to the idea of participating in Trump’s government, should he be elected.
In recent months, Elon Musk has been leaning toward more conservative positions, culminating in his official support for Trump. Recently, the billionaire interviewed the former president on his social media platform, X, reinforcing the alliance between the two.
Electric Vehicles
In addition to praising Musk, Trump also addressed policies related to electric vehicles, an area where Elon Musk is a central figure due to his leadership at Tesla. Trump criticized the US$ 7,500 tax credit given for the purchase of electric vehicles, suggesting that if elected, he might eliminate this incentive. “Tax credits and incentives are generally not a great thing”, Trump said, referring to changes in Treasury Department rules that make it easier for automakers to access the credit.
During his previous term, Trump had already attempted to repeal the tax credit for electric vehicles, a measure that was ultimately expanded by President Joe Biden in 2022. The potential repeal of the credit by Trump could significantly impact the electric vehicle industry, where Elon Musk is one of the key leaders.
