The Cartão Gás program will be able to inject approximately BRL 24 million into kitchen gas distributors, benefiting more than 70 families in vulnerable situations
The Gas Card, launched on August 10 in the Federal District, will be able to inject R$ 24 million into kitchen gas distributors until December of this year. This is an estimate by André Clemente, Secretary of Economy, alongside representatives and businessmen of the Union of Transport Companies and LP Gas Resellers of the Federal District (Sindvargas-DF).

Gas card will benefit 70 low-income families
Through the Gas Card, worth R$100 every two months, more than 70 families in socially vulnerable situations will be able to purchase cooking gas. The initiative will last around 18 months, with the objective of guaranteeing food security to program beneficiaries.
During the event that brought together authorities involved in the Gas Card of the Federal District, Secretary André Clemente emphasized that the program, which will inject millions into distributors, aims to support needy families and encourage the kitchen gas resale market due to the high constant of the product in the last months.
The secretary also explained that the actions do not only seek the financial flow, but mainly, the well-being of those who need it most. André claims that the population is an important link for the government's economy and also for the Cartão Gás program, which will inject millions into cooking gas distributors. Thanks to the union, the program will reach more families and improve the quality of life of several people, in addition to moving the Brazilian economy.
80% of cooking gas resellers are family businesses in the Federal District
The president of Sindvargas-DF, Janair Silveira, also spoke about the Federal District Gas Card, which will inject millions into distributors. For the executive, this is an important program to help companies in this sector grow through social action in favor of the people most impacted by the pandemic who are still struggling to get back on their feet financially.
Janair Silveira also claimed that 80% of cooking gas resellers in the DF consist of small and micro family businesses. According to Silveira, these are people who need the sale of cooking gas guaranteed by the Federal District government, which will boost the sector.
Distributors can now apply
Kitchen gas distributors wishing to participate in the Federal District Gas Card program must register with the Economy Department. It will be necessary, next to the folder, to fill out a term of adhesion in addition to presenting all the documents requested in Ordinance nº 211, hosted in the benefits menu on the portal of the Secretariat of Economy.
Meanwhile, families who are able to receive benefits from the program will be contemplated through the tool issued exclusively by Banco de Brasília. The final list with the selection of those who can participate in the program will be released on the 31st of this month. The expected date for the payments to start is scheduled for next September.
