The Gas Card Program Will Inject Approximately R$ 24 Million Into The Cooking Gas Distributors, Benefiting More Than 70 Thousand Families In Vulnerable Situations
The Gas Card, launched on August 10 in the Federal District, will inject R$ 24 million into the cooking gas distributors by December this year. This is an estimate by André Clemente, Secretary of Economy, alongside representatives and businessmen from the Gas LP Transporters and Resellers Union of the Federal District (Sindvargas-DF).

Gas Card Will Benefit 70 Thousand Low-Income Families
Through the Gas Card, valued at R$ 100 every two months, more than 70 thousand families in vulnerable social situations will be able to purchase cooking gas. The initiative will last for about 18 months, aiming to ensure food security for the program’s beneficiaries.

The Secretary also explained that the actions aim not only at financial flow but mainly at the well-being of those who need it most. André states that the population is an important link for the government’s economy and also for the Gas Card program, which will inject millions into the cooking gas distributors. Thanks to unity, the program will reach more families and improve the quality of life for many people, in addition to boosting the Brazilian economy.
80% Of Cooking Gas Resellers Are Family Businesses In The Federal District
The President of Sindvargas-DF, Janair Silveira, also spoke about the Gas Card from the Federal District, which will inject millions into the distributors. According to the executive, it is an important program to aid in the growth of companies in this sector through a social action in favor of people most impacted by the pandemic who are still struggling to recover financially.
Janair Silveira also claimed that 80% of cooking gas resellers in the DF consist of small and micro family businesses. According to Silveira, these are people who need the cooking gas sales guaranteed by the government of the Federal District, which will stimulate the sector.
Distributors Can Now Sign Up
Cooking gas distributors wishing to participate in the Gas Card program in the Federal District must register with the Secretary of Economy. It will be necessary, along with the department, to fill out a membership agreement and present all documents requested in Ordinance No. 211, hosted in the benefits menu on the Secretary of Economy’s portal.
Meanwhile, families eligible to receive benefits from the program will be contemplated through a tool issued exclusively by the Bank of Brasília. The final list with the selection of those who can participate in the program will be disclosed on the 31st of this month. The expected date for payments to begin is set for next month in September.
