Citroën's new SUV hits the automotive market to outsell the Fiat Fastback. Meet the Citroën Basalt, an SUV that delivers 130 hp and up to 13,6 km/l of consumption.
Launched in October 2024, the Citroën Basalt had sold six thousand units by the end of November, directly impacting sales of the Fiat Fastback. Of this total, around 1.300 have already been registered. According to reports, due to the high demand for Citroën's new SUV, the Porto Real (RJ) factory will not interrupt production during the end-of-year festivities.

Also due to the increase in sales of the Citroën Basalt, dealers have already expanded their sales teams. The special series of Citroën's new SUV has already sold out.
Now, those interested in buying the SUV with a Turbo 200 engine will have to choose between the Feel or Shine. According to market sources, customers have opted for the Turbo 200 versions and the Feel 1.0 Firefly option has not yet caught the attention of consumers.

After many spy shots, Citroën's new SUV was fully revealed and the look remained the same as the concept presented a few months ago. Unlike the C3 Aircross, the new SUV coupe comes with a version with 1.0 naturally aspirated engine.
The Fiat Fastback's rival is being sold in three versions, one with the 1.0 naturally aspirated engine and manual transmission, and the others with the 1.0 turbo and CVT transmission, the set known as T200.
In terms of dimensions, the model is 4.343 mm long, but it favors the rear overhang to create harmony due to the coupe-like roofline, with 2.645 mm between the axles. With this, the Citroën Basalt arrived with 490 liters of trunk space.
New SUV surpasses Fiat Fastback delivering 14,5 km/liter
Citroën's SUV in the Basalt Feel 1.0 version comes with a 1.0 Firefly naturally aspirated engine, an old acquaintance of Stellantis. With three cylinders and 6 valves in a single camshaft, it has 71 horsepower and 10 kgfm with gasoline and 75 horsepower and 10,5 kgfm with ethanol.
In a car weighing 1.120 kg, the Fiat Fastback's rival has a consumption approved by Inmetro of 13 km/liter in the city and 14,6 km/liter on the highway, with gasoline and 9,3 and 10,2 km/liter, respectively, with ethanol.
For Basalt Feel Turbo and Shine Turbo, as the name suggests, the 1.0 turbo was chosen. Connected to the CVT gearbox with 7-speed simulation, it has 125 horsepower with gasoline and 130 hp with ethanol, with torque of 20,4 kgfm with both fuels.
Consumption is 11,9 km/liter in the city and 13,7 km/liter on the highway, with gasoline, and goes from 8,3 to 9,6 km/liter, respectively, with ethanol.

To compete with the Fiat Fastback, the new Citroën Basalt comes with equipment such as electric steering with column height adjustment, multimedia system with 10″ screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly, instrument panel with 7″ screen, 4 airbags, rear camera, LED daytime running lights, air conditioning, driver's seat with height adjustment, electric windows, key fob, electric mirrors, among others, automatic CVT transmission, optional two-tone paint, seats and steering wheel with premium upholstery, among others.
