Seven Engine Options Are Offered in the New Version of the GLC Coupé from Mercedes-Benz
The GLC Coupé was ready to receive new updates from Mercedes-Benz. Therefore, the German automaker decided to make significant changes to the vehicle, the most substantial being the offering of engine options: now, the driver can choose from seven different configurations.
All engine options are hybrid, four of which use a 2.0 turbo combined with a 48V mild-hybrid system. According to Autoesporte, the system provides an additional power of 23 hp and 20.3 kgfm during acceleration. Meanwhile, the transmission is always a nine-speed automatic.
What Is the Difference Between the Engine Types of the New GLC?
The difference between the engines of the GLC Coupé 2023 lies in the fuel used, which can be gasoline or diesel. In this case, Mercedes-Benz has made available only two trim levels: GLC 200 and GLC 300. Therefore, we have the following configurations:
-
The 2012 Mitsubishi Pajero Dakar diesel shows 314,000 km and still draws attention for its reputation for durability; the seven-seater 4×4 SUV handles trails, but signs of severe use may conceal losses for used car buyers.
-
Peugeot publicly acknowledged the errors of the PureTech engine, which caused serious failures in hundreds of thousands of cars, and introduced the new Turbo 100 as a definitive solution, a 1.2 turbo tested for over 3 million kilometers that replaces the faulty belt with a more durable chain.
-
Automatic cars become ‘cheap’ in Brazil, and models from Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, and Honda appear for R$ 65,000 with up to 120 hp, CVT transmission, 482 liters of trunk space, keyless entry, and six airbags to tackle traffic without a clutch.
-
Honda revives a classic from Brazilian streets with a new name, TFT panel, and reprogrammed engine in the 2027 lineup; see the first impressions of the CB500 Hornet, which arrives with 49.6 hp, 4.5 kgf.m torque, 6-speed gearbox, 175 kg, and Showa suspension on Brazilian streets.
- GLC 200 D – 2.0 turbodiesel with 197 hp and 44.8 kgfm of torque
- GLC 300 D – 2.0 turbodiesel with 269 hp and 56 kgfm of torque
- GLC 200 – 2.0 gasoline turbo with 204 hp and 32.6 kgfm of torque
- GLC 300 – 2.0 gasoline turbo with 258 hp and 40.7 kgfm of torque
In addition to the versions presented above, the GLC Coupé has three plug-in hybrid configurations, which combine the 2.0 turbo engine with a 136 hp electric motor and 44.86 kgfm of torque. Thus, the following engine options are also available:
- GLC 300 DE – 2.0 turbodiesel + electric motor, totaling 335 hp and 76.4 kgfm of torque
- GLC 200 E – 2.0 gasoline turbo + electric motor, totaling 317 hp and 56 kgfm of torque
- GLC 400 E – 2.0 gasoline turbo + electric motor, totaling 381 hp and 66.2 kgfm of torque
120 km Range and Elegant, Modern Design Featured in the New Mercedes-Benz Car
The batteries of the new version of the GLC Coupé have 31.2 kWh and, according to Mercedes-Benz, the car can travel up to 120 km in the WLTP cycle. Meanwhile, the maximum speed with the electric engine options is 140 km/h. To top it off, all configurations are equipped with wireless phone charging and heated seats for both drivers and passengers.
The interior of the new GLS is quite similar to the Class C. There are two screens in the vehicle: the instrument cluster measures 11.9 inches and the vertically mounted multimedia center measures 12.3 inches. To surprise the audience, this software comes with an augmented reality navigation option. Outside, the Coupé has removed the chrome that surrounded the grille, which is now only used on the bars, giving the model a more elegant look.
