Expansion of the Group in the City and in Other States
Mayor Miguel Coelho says that the city of Petrolina will play a strategic role in the Mateus Group’s expansion plan. According to him, it is great news for Pernambuco because when they started negotiations with the Mateus Group, they showed the state’s potential and how Petrolina can be important as a hub for expansion and logistical connection with other municipalities and states. From the Sertão, the Mateus Group will multiply throughout Pernambuco. Now, it’s about accelerating with the State Government the stages of incentives and licensing so that this major investment quickly becomes a reality and thousands of Pernambucans have access to more services and jobs, says Miguel.
According to Miguel Coelho, the distribution center that will be established in Petrolina will serve as a hub for stores in Pernambuco and is also expected to connect with other distribution centers in the network, assisting in the expansion of business to other states, such as Ceará, Bahia, and Rio Grande do Norte.
The Maranhão-based group currently operates 200 ventures, generating over 40,000 jobs in six states in the North and Northeast. Negotiations with the company were led by Mayor Miguel Coelho over the past ten months. In Petrolina, Pernambuco, the expectation is to create over 1,000 jobs through the distribution center and a “Mix Atacarejo” unit.
