The Funai Contest Also Has a Ongoing Examination with More Than 500 Openings in the Federal Government Public Competition to Be Filled.
Great news for those who plan to register for the new contest of the National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples, FUNAI. On May 31, 2024, Law No. 14,875 was announced by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, restructuring the federal civil service. Through this, FUNAI confirmed that there is a new request for authorization to fill an additional 751 positions for professionals with high school and higher education.
It is important to emphasize that FUNAI also has an ongoing contest to fill more than 500 positions in the Unified National Contest of the Federal Government.
New FUNAI Contest: More Than 700 Openings in the Foundation’s Public Contest
The 751 openings in the FUNAI contest are distributed as follows:

- Indigenous Technician – 468 openings;
- Indigenous Specialist – 283 openings.
To compete for the position of Indigenous Technician, one must have completed high school, and the starting salary is around R$ 5,128.03. For the Indigenous Specialist position, the public competition guidelines require higher education professionals, with a starting salary of R$ 6,403.90.
It is also important to highlight that Law No. 14,875 also restructures the career of Analyst in the IT (Information Technology) area. Higher education will also be required, and the starting salary is around R$ 11,150.80.
FUNAI Public Competition: Check Job Responsibilities
For the position of Indigenous Technician, the following activities were assigned:
I – Planning, organizing, executing and evaluating activities related to indigenous affairs, as well as providing specialized technical and administrative support to these
activities;
II – Conducting activities of collection, selection, and processing of specialized data and information;
III – Guiding and controlling processes aimed at the protection and defense of indigenous peoples;
IV – Monitoring and supervising actions developed in indigenous territories or affecting directly or indirectly indigenous peoples and their
communities;
V – Intermediate-level administrative and logistical activities related to the institutional and legal competencies of their agency or entity of exercise
For the position of Indigenous Specialists, professionals must fulfill the following tasks:
I – Promoting and defending the rights guaranteed by Brazilian legislation to indigenous peoples, as well as their protection and improvement of their quality of life;
II – Conducting studies related to land demarcation, land regularization, and protection of indigenous territories;
III – Regulating and managing access to indigenous territories and their sustainable use;
IV – Formulating, articulating, coordinating, and implementing policies aimed at indigenous peoples and their communities;
V – Planning, organizing, executing, and evaluating activities related to territorial, environmental, and cultural protection and the rights of indigenous peoples;
VI – Monitoring and supervising actions developed in indigenous territories or affecting directly or indirectly indigenous peoples and their
communities;
VII – Studies and research related to their area of expertise; and
VIII – Administrative and logistical activities at a higher level pertaining to the institutional competencies of their agency or entity of exercise
For Analyst in the IT area:
I – Executing analyses for the development, implementation, and support of information and specific technological solutions;
II – Specifying and supporting the formulation and monitoring of planning policies related to information technology resources;
III – Specifying, supervising, and monitoring the activities of development, maintenance, integration, and performance monitoring of information technology applications;
IV – Managing the dissemination, integration, and quality control of data;
V – Organizing, maintaining, and controlling the storage, administration, and access to government computing databases;
VI – Developing, implementing, executing, and supervising activities related to configuration processes, security, connectivity, shared services, and adjustments of the federal public administration’s information technology infrastructure;
VII – Executing necessary actions for information security management for agencies and entities of the federal public administration;
VIII – Executing necessary actions for information technology governance and data protection for agencies and entities of the federal public administration;
IX – Prospecting the use of solutions to increase efficiency and capacity for customization of the relationship with public service users; and
X – Promoting innovation and improvement of public services through technology.
It is worth mentioning that the last FUNAI contest is still ongoing, as it is part of the Unified National Contest.
