Hyundai’s Electric SUV Promises to Revolutionize the Segment with Innovative Technology, BYD’s LFP Battery, Extreme Durability, and a Range of Up to 700 km in the Chinese Market; Here’s What to Expect from the Model.
The global electric vehicle market is gearing up to welcome, starting in the third quarter of 2025, one of the most anticipated launches in the segment: the Hyundai Electric SUV, named Elexio.
Developed in collaboration with the Beijing Hyundai joint venture, the model aims to redefine the standards of technology, range, and safety among electrified SUVs, especially in the competitive Chinese market.
Since its initial presentation in May, the Hyundai Elexio has caught the attention of experts for combining innovative solutions, such as the advanced “God’s Hand” structure, a robust LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery provided by BYD, and above-average performance in extreme range and durability tests.

Range, Performance, and “God’s Hand” Structure
In terms of motorization, the Hyundai Electric SUV offers two main configurations: one version with 160 kW (214 hp) of power and front-wheel drive, and another top-of-the-line version with 233 kW (312 hp) and all-wheel drive, ensuring greater capability to tackle various driving conditions.
Both are equipped with next-generation LFP batteries, known for their durability and greater thermal safety, features increasingly valued by Chinese and international consumers.

The main differentiator of the Hyundai Elexio is its range: according to the Chinese CLTC cycle, it can reach up to 700 km on a single charge, surpassing direct competitors like BYD Seagull and Tesla Model Y.

The SUV also features a length of 4.61 meters and a width of 1.87 meters, dimensions that position it in the medium SUV range, providing ample internal space and comfort for the whole family.
The structural resistance is reinforced by the innovative system nicknamed “God’s Hand”, composed of five layers of ultra-resistant steels, surrounding the chassis in a 360-degree shield.
During global tests, the vehicle underwent front and side collisions and rollovers in ditches, as well as evaluations in climate chambers at -30 °C, demonstrating superior performance compared to other electric vehicles under the same conditions.
“The Elexio exceeded expectations and maintained functionality even in extreme environments,” stated Beijing Hyundai in an official note.
Adjusted Suspension and Premium Driving Experience
The development of the Hyundai Electric SUV also focused on the driving experience.
More than 300 technical adjustments were made to the suspension, including special valve dampers and hydraulic bushings.

In track tests, the model faced 17 different types of urban pavements, showcasing behavior and refinement worthy of premium segments.
BYD’s LFP Battery and Competitive Pricing
Another strategic point is the local production of batteries, carried out by FinDreams, a subsidiary of BYD, which enables more competitive pricing.
Although official prices have not been disclosed, Chinese media expects the model to cost around 140,000 yuan (approximately $19,500), making it one of the best value options among electric SUVs in the country.
Hyundai Elexio: Expectations and Competitors in Brazil
The arrival of the Hyundai Elexio reinforces the automaker’s positioning in the world’s largest automotive market, but also raises expectations for other countries, including Brazil.
In the Brazilian market, should the Elexio be officially launched, it would compete directly against models like the BYD Yuan Plus, GWM Haval H6, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Kia EV6, and the Tesla Model Y itself — all electric or plug-in hybrid SUVs that are gaining traction among consumers looking for high range, embedded technology, and advanced safety.
The Hyundai Electric SUV segment, if it expands its presence in Brazil, has the potential to attract buyers interested in modern alternatives to the BYD Yuan Plus and the Volvo XC40 Recharge, while also strengthening Hyundai’s position as a reference in automotive innovation in the country.
The expectation is that, throughout 2025 and 2026, the brand will assess the feasibility of importing or even locally producing models like the Elexio, keeping pace with the growing demand for electric vehicles in the country.
